See, that's just it. He wasn't that over. He was no more over than say Zack Ryder has been. And Zack at least has held titles, where Koko's gold count was zero. Jake Roberts' gold count was zero, too. Titles weren't handed out like candy back then. I'd say the fact that people still fondly remember Koko 20+ years since his last WWE days mean he is worthy of a spot in the Hall. This. All of this.

I don't agree with that, but I also think that a hall of fame should be inclusive. For example, I think the baseball hall of fame actually has less credibility than it could due to stuff like Pete Rose being out, Shoeless Joe Jackson, etc, over petty shit. In Pete's case, even as a native Cincinnatian, I wouldn't call it petty, but hey, if unabashed racists and a murderer can be in, then a guy who gambles compulsively is kinda a saint by comparison. Far as the Koko argument, let's put it this way. He was over like rover on Saturday mornings, but then that's because back then even the cartoony JTTS was treated as important, as a "worthy opponent", and a "main event anywhere in the world" . Different standard than today, where if you're not in Vnce's fave five, you're an afterthought.

Koko was very over and even if he never held a title in WWE look at what he has done outside of WWE AWA Southern Tag Team Championship (7 times) - with Norvell Austin (3), Bobby Eaton (2), Stan Lane (1), and Dutch Mantel (1) NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Championship (6 times) NWA Mid-America Television Championship (1 time) NWA United States Tag Team Championship (Florida version) IWCCW Heavyweight Championship

Koko didn't need a title in WWF. He got over and stayed over by sheer force of personality.
Koko's 0 titles mean more than the trivial reigns of most champions today.

I'm curious as to how many of Koko's detractors would be fine with the Brawler in the HOF?
Koko deserves it. He's probably one of a handful of 80s wrestlers you could ask a stranger on the street and they would know he's a wrestler.

I have non-fan friends who will say, "Oh, I remember that dude from Saturdays, he was the one with the bird". Not Hogan levels of recognition, but if after 30 years the memory is there, where a more modern wrestler will get blank stares or at most a "He used to wear green or something, right?" (Triple H). He was a part of our childhoods, so yes nostalgia exists, but if decades removed he is still memorable, then he left his mark.

I wonder if Vince planned for Frankie vs Matilda vs Damien at a Wrestlemania before Stephanie & Shane cried when they overheard the phone call Vinnie made to Pat Patterson & Jack Tunney over booking it... Replace I wonder if with I definitely know.

I like Frankie as much as the next guy, but he's no Damien.

Koko B. Ware has more of a right to be in the HOF than someone whose never wrestled for WWE at all.

I was born in the early 80s and grew up on WWF, watching it with my brother and dad. There were so many memorable characters like Macho Man, Hulk, Warrior, Jake the Snake, the Big Boss Man, the Bushwhackers, the Junkyard Dog, etc. I could go on at length naming some of my favourite wrestlers and honestly, the birdman Koko B. Ware was one of them. From his music videos to his bird to even his tag team with Owen Hart I loved watching him and was excited when I saw him. He's one of the few wrestlers I had an action figure of. I can see both sides in this argument but honestly, I think he deserves the spot for many of the reasons in his favour that were mentioned, his longevity being the main one. I don't even remember if he lost a lot or won a lot since I was a kid but that didn't seem to matter. He was entertaining.

I would say that it is indeed debatable if Koko really deserved to be inducted into the HOF.
But I would also say how its unfair that over the past few years that the guy has been held up by fans as the measuring stick for such pointless inductions when they are quite a few people who are far worse inductions that he is.

I'm of the opinion that anybody with a hasbro action figure should go in the HOF. Anyone who has never committed a double Murder and suicide is still in contention to go in one day.

This is my Koko B. Ware HoF argument: Having a bird on me would actually freak me out more than having a snake on me.

Frankie, Damien and Matilda were more over than Randy Orton is today
