I'm turning 30 next Friday. I'm making a weekend celebration out of it. Maybe as a signing off of my stupid 20s that were fun, but stupid. So, I guess I did it right. Just make sure you're only signing off the stupid. Mine's at the end of Feburary, I intend to spend as much of my 30s having crazy fun nights out as I can. The big change is my wedding later this month so I'll have my awesome wife out joining me for them, so they'll be even better.

30 is not a big deal at all. If your career and health are fine, then it's a great age.
Scared of turning 40 makes more sense.

[ {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Honestly, it's known as by far the roughest year of your twenties. You're old enough to feel the burden of the responsibilities of adulthood without the comfort and satisfaction they usually arrive with. It's when you first realize how much younger other adults are than you (18-year-olds are now a whole five years younger than you) but you're surrounded by adults who have the longer experience and tenure in pretty much everything so there's something of an isolation going on. It's the age your friends start to move away, both physically and personally depending on their life paths, and things can just feel overwhelming. There's still plenty of great memories and good times to be had, my best advice is to just always be kind to people and really consider others' time and property and you'll be fine. Everyone else who is 23 is going through the same stress, frustration and state of panic. Just hang in there, and focus on what you can do for yourself and others. 23 year old for another month. Can confirm. It was truly the year where I felt truly focused and practically got my shit together (even though I already had my shit together) to improve myself and get better. I haven't hustled so hard since I was 17. But honestly it hasn't been rough for me. Last year was really f***ing rough on me. I felt more of a burden and emptiness to achieve goals this year but honestly it's been a smooth ride. Like when you sort of realize that you're in your prime years. You've been an adult long enough to start to get it, you're in prime physical strength, you've already have a feel of accomplishment of what you've done, you're finally that older guy for younger girls and that right age for older girls, you have a better understanding of your skill set and what you want to do in life, it's things like that. It's like being 18 all over again but with more flexibility and knowledge and advantages. I turned 28 a couple of weeks ago and I am still kind of struggling with pursuing my education. The thing with me is kind of a long story. However, I sometimes ask myself "Don't I get tired of being where I am in life?" I will say that it's best if I just don't compare myself to others and what they have done because then that gets depressing. It's funny how to me how I have been asked if I have kids or if one just assumed that I am married because of the age I am in. I will say this. I have never been more serious about my pursuit of education than I was when I got out of high school. Hell, make that the years 18-21. At the age of 22, I was kind of in a transitional phase. When I was 23, I started to think about what I really wanted. I have stuck with what I wanted to do for a long time. I am even interning at a local newspaper currently and have been for the past seven months.

I turn 30 in about 4 months. I don't want to do anything, but I know my girlfriend is planning something b/c she keeps bringing it up. I told her I literally wanted to do nothing, just be with her and the dog and just chill. Not b/c I'm scared that I'm 30, but moreso b/c we're planning a trip next May and a) I'm not spending money on myself knowing this and b) I'm more of a fan of other birthdays rather than my own.
Edit: The only thing I'm scared of is that it's another decade and it's a new set of responsibilities. When I turned 20, I was in college with no job and still living at home. I'm turning 30 in a few months and I have a condo, might be engaged and married within the next 2-5 years. It's a little scary to think about how much live changes w/in a span of a few years. I kinda wish I was 30 in the 90s to be honest, life would be better and cheaper.

I turn 30 in about two and a half years. Not really dreading it, it doesn't matter. Everyone still thinks I'm fourteen anyway. Brat down the street asked my mother once about me and clarified who she meant by describing me as "that girl who looks like a teenager but really isn't". I get that too!

I turn 30 in 27 days. At the start of the new year, I was kind of dreading it just because I wasn't really happy with what I was doing with my life. I was finally getting over a 4 year "relationship" that was anything but healthy, I was unhappy at my job, and was buried in debt. It was a grueling 7 months, but by the end of July, I met an amazing girl, changed my job, and made some good progress towards crushing my debt and having an emergency fund set up in savings.
All these improvements, and a 5FDP concert on the 28th? Bring on 30!

I turn 23 in November and that scares me! Life's been pretty much the same since I was 19. Work during the week, get drunk over the weekend!

My close friends are all nearing 30 and are still partying it up, and I'll go out with them every now and then, but I really dread the "lets get drunk" weekends b/c it takes me days now to recover.

I guess I'm kinda on the opposite side. I hated being young. I had no money and no direction. Now that I'm close to 40, I feel like I'm better than I have ever been in terms of knowledge and direction in life. I have a really good job, a good education, etc.

Turn 30 in December, I'm dreading it but like most things I'm sure it won't be as bad as I imagine.

I just turned 30 two weeks ago, and I think I keep making a bigger deal of it than it actually is. For some reason, I just kept looking at everything I haven't achieved and realized that my current station in life is my permanent station in life. Just don't do that to yourself, and you'll be fine.

A few years ago the thought of turning 30 played on my mind in a negative way. I was worried about hitting that age with many of my goals unfulfilled.
Now i'm less than a year away from 30 and the feeling of dread is gone and I feel ready to leave my twenties behind.
I've fallen short on some of my goals but on the flip side of the coin i've had success in some of them and i've also experienced some great things that many people of my age (or any age) may not be fortunate enough to do so.
As far as my achievements go, some of these may be small to some people but I know the big steps I had to overcome to make them possible. I battled and overcame my worst enemy (myself) and I've found myself in situations in my mid to late twenties that my younger self wouldn't have had the confidence to cope with. It took me a long time to get to this stage but I gained a great deal of confidence around 2008 and I've kept it growing. I have my off days like most people but 99% of the time I like being me.
I still have a great deal of work ahead of me and I know the biggest tests are still in front of me, but I now take each day as it comes. One thing the twenties taught me is that the future has a way of being whatever it wants to be, so I may as well embrace it in the most positive fashion possible rather than worry myself stupid over dark days that may never come.
and also, and this has been a big thing regarding how i'm approaching my 30th.. I can name 3 people in my age group who I knew, 2 of which I was close to at one point in my life. They were all of the same age as I and all 3 have passed away due to tragic circumstances within the last 12 months, so when I make 30 (hopefully) i'm going to be thinking of those people and thankful about being fortunate enough to reach that milestone rather than be negative.

I have no reason to be scared about it. I don't think about stuff like "Oh man now I'm old" because if I did I would think that everyday. I'm just a day older everyday and I don't mind at all. I don't really care if it's my birthday or not, still just a day older.

I still have a few years, but anyone else kind of scared of this? Kind of scared shitless? Alternatively if you're not scared, just too f***ing cool to admit or have some other thoughts about the big 3 0 feel free to post about that too. I barely remember turning 30. Hell just hit 40 this year. Still feel like I am 25.

I was pretty terrified when I turned 30.
I didn't feel personally, financially or career-wise anywhere I wanted to be.
I think my biggest issue is that I'd look at where my friends were in their lives (my best friends are either lawyers or in high finance) and feel inadequate. In retrospect, that was pretty foolish of me and I came to accept that my goals in life don't necessarily jibe with theirs.
Well, flash forward a couple of years and I'm perfectly content with my personal life and my career.
Obviously, everything's not perfect. I'd still like to earn more money, but I'm making a very good living as is, and I don't love my work hours, but there are very few media jobs that are Monday-Friday, 9-5.
Turning 30 is scary, but everybody survives and, if you're happy with your lot in life, then who cares hold you are?
And if you're not happy, there's plenty of time to fix that.

Well I turned 30 in March. I want to get everything together as fast as possible but at the same time I want to have fun like I used to and don't think that I have to change my personality just because I'm getting a bit older. I look back and think my 20s could of been better so now I'm in my 30s I hope to make them much better than the last 10 years.
