What with it being the big game of 2014 and all I figure we might need an all-purpose thread for it. Is anyone getting it? Is anyone buying a next gen console to play it? Is it any good? Can I really trust the voice of Tyrion? There are various live streams going on Twitch at the moment which is the closest you will get to a review currently.

I was going to buy it but, after watching gameplay videos it looks very underwhelming and generic. I thought it would redefine the genre but it looks like your typical sci-fi shooter. No different than Killzone.
Plus, with it being an online game I always worry that the servers will be terrible abd take an age to find a match or, have poor matchmaking that will pair a level 1 noob against a team made up of level 30 players who will just demolish me and take the fun out of the game.

I'm getting it tomorrow at my convenience. I played the Beta and while it's fun I don't think it will be a 5/5 GOTY masterpiece. It's a first person shooter with RPG elements that really breaks not much new ground, from what I can tell.
And you can wave, dance, and point at people in the main character gathering place. The most fun I had was finding the stupidest place to dance and just stand there dancing until a bunch of other people joined me for an alien flash mob.

I never played the beta.
What exactly are the RPG elements? Because from what I could gather from the videos it's just another generic, by-the-books FPS.

I had little interest but my friend played it and thought it was terrible. This oddly made me want to try it myself... but I'm still probably not getting it. Also... I never played the beta. What exactly are the RPG elements? Because from what I could gather from the videos it's just another generic, by-the-books FPS. From what I remember my friend saying there are levels and skill trees... but he also said it felt like the skills were all pretty much the same and the levels were just blatant time sinks. People that have actually played it are probably better source of info than someone with a pretty bad memory using second hand knowledge

Eh, probably won't get it off the bat. The beta was good, but nothing mindblowing.

That's... disappointing. I was hoping the RPG elements would be things like side quests and side missions given by NPC characters. Basically RPG type side missions but with FPS gameplay. Kinda like Fallout 3/New Vegas I guess.
A levelling up and skill tree system, doesn't sound too thrilling. I think this is one I will avoid. I'm gonna save my money for The Vanishing of Ethan Carter which sounds excellent.
Edit: Another thing that puts me off is (and I may be wrong) that the game is centered around Co-op missions but I don't know anyone else who has a PS4 and even if some of my mates did, I'm living in a different time zone so organizing time to get on and do missions would be a pain. Can you still take part in co-op missions/raids even without online friends?
Looking at screenshots, the visuals look dull too. Like they could basically be lifted from Mass Effect or Halo which, in itself is not a bad thing. But for a game receiving so much hype, I kinda expected better and more effort.

It's pretty and all, and I'm amazed at the ad campaign (even more intense than GTA V was last year), but I probably won't play this game ever. It took me 8 years to get a PS3, I can only imagine how long it'll take for me to get a PS4.

Getting it tomorrow, played the beta, it was a good time.
I'm not traditionally big on FPS, but it was fun. Count me in as one of those people who doesn't know too many PS4 owners, so getting coop together could be difficult.

It does have side quests and missions both from NPCs and from radio beacons set in the world. You can also play it alone just fine outside of strike missions, which if you decided to do, you hop in and other players will just be there anyway. I played the alpha and beta and the thing that impressed me most is just how well tuned the game is. It feels freaking wonderful to play. The trappings might be a little redundant (though nothing at all like Killzone or CoD), the game play is silky smooth and responsive.

Got the PS4 Destiny Bundle headed my way for my 30th birthday (8/31). This is my transition into the current gen consoles. Can't wait!

I might check it out, but the problem is I don't have a next-gen system. I was thinking about just buying the digital version for XBox 360, but the thing with that...it would only benefit me if I was planning on getting an XB1 and I am not getting that shit.
It's a shame because I'd like to play Sunset Overdrive, but whatever.

Caved in and got an Xbox One last week bundled with a pre-order of Destiny... not expecting it here tomorrow, but would be nice.
In all honesty, I don't know that much about the game - I missed out on the Beta and have pretty much skimmed all info on it - but as me and a friend regularly get together to actually get some use of our Gold subscriptions, the co-op/multiplayer aspect was pretty appealing.

Getting it for PS3. I know barely anything about it, but nothing's been coming out lately, so I thought I'd get it.

Do let us know what you think of it, as reviews, opinion and game plot/structure are kind of hard to hunt down currently.
