Great doc, but I wish they had also interviewed some of the people who despised Ric Flair and why.

Really good, fair documentary. Ironically, after covering his worked punches so well, this 30 for 30 didn't pull any on his alcoholism, his marriages, his parents, and Reid. They capruted his stunning highs and rock bottom lows really well. And for as much as people hate Trips, he is a guy who has had a huge positive influence on Flair. I wish they would have touched on that dynamic a bit more. That HHH grew up idolizing Flair, then really had to take care of him because he stopped developing as a teenager and just wants to party. Kind of like when Krusty finally comes over to The Simpsons' house for dinner and Bart realizes his hero is a disaster and everyone wants him to leave.

Yes, his time in TNA was as bad as those videos showed. I was actually cussing at the screen when they showed him falling into tacks & that Lethal Lockdown match where he got hit with the beer bottle and his pants were ripped completely off Like, "What the hell?!"

Did they mention the 2002 Plane Ride from Hell? They mentioned A plane ride from Hell during his NWA days, but not THE Plane Ride From Hell.

The Madden video game episode of the 30 for 30 Podcast is up. It's actually quite disappointing. The first 15 or so minutes is a retelling of John Madden's career as a football player, coach, and analyst, then the next 15 minutes talks about the push for the Madden video game series to be the first to feature 11-on-11 football and all the technological challenges that accompanied it, then it's 15 minutes about the juggernaut that the franchise grew into. And that's that. But buried in there, and discussed for maybe two minutes tops, is Electronic Arts acquiring exclusive rights to be the sole creator of NFL video games. That could have (and should have) been a big talking point in the story of Madden because it explains how the franchise evolved from a game that took four years just to produce to the only show in town, but mostly because it could have touched on the battle between Madden and the NFL 2K series that turned football video gamers into the Hatfields and the McCoys in the early 2000s. 2004 was easily the best year for both products. NFL 2K5 was a legitimate challenger to Madden's throne, so in response, Madden NFL 2005 was the best soup to nuts version of the entire series, from on-field play to franchise mode. Then, instead of continuing to better the product, EA Sports just buys the rights to the NFL and the game has stagnated over the last decade to the point that the last four or five editions have basically just been $60 annual roster updates. In wrestling parlance, it's like when WWF bought WCW. WWF was never better than when WCW was nipping at its heels, so once there's no competition, there's little motivation to be the very best when "good enough" is good enough. I get that the podcast couldn't really touch on that point because, let's be honest, it was a PR puff-piece for the Madden franchise and wasn't going to overturn any stones and investigate what's underneath, but I would have liked to hear about why EA felt so much pressure from 2K Sports to the point that they had to fork over a bucket of cash to eliminate any competition.
