"Silence of the Lambs" the movie is pretty faithful to the novel though. I can't think of any major changes other than who's head Clarice finds in the storage facility and that Crawford's subplot with his wife isn't referenced. The ending, with Lecter chasing Chilton to kill him. In the book Lecter just writes a threatening letter. I don't think that's a major change, though. It's just a more visual, cinematic way of depicting the end to the story. Same thing as Hannibal calling Clarice instead of writing to her.

Can we just take a moment to recognise how excellent Mads Mikkelsen (sp?) is, not just in Hannibal but everything else he is in. If you haven't seen it then watch The Hunt which I believe is on Netflix. I'm going to have to quote it just to reinforce. Mads is my favorite actor, and he absolutely kills it as Hannibal.

Just checked and it's definitely up (in the UK) Also it's Flame & Citron (d'oh) and apologies for derailing the thread. Back on topic, Hannibal was the worst of the 3 Hopkins films, but I still thought it was okay. That is all.

I'll take this moment to show off my knowledge of useless trivia: In the 70's and 80's, the city of Florence, Italy was terrorized by a serial killer. Dubbed "The Monster of Florence," the killer largely attacked young couples parked in isolated cars. The investigation to try to cath this heinous murderer dragged on for twenty years, and spawned a variety of strange theories. One of the most outlandish was that the killer was part of a Satanic cult that included wealthy and powerful people such as politicians and doctors, and was vomit ting the murders in some set of ritual. Thomas Harris was vacationing in Italy at the time and read newspaper accounts of the investigation; he was fascinated by the idea of a wealthy, well to do aristocrat who is secretly a monstrous serial killer. This was the seed that one day grew into the character Hannibal Lecter.

The book is sooo much crazier...I'm sure Harris did this to f*** with all of the people begging for a sequel story so they could make the movie.

Ever read the book? It's even more wacky and I say this as a man that rereads Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs every few years. I came into the thread to say this. The Hannibal book flips its wig so much in the last chapters (pun intended) that it makes the film look like a bland rom com.
