Why do you people have such a freaking problem with Cena looking strong. Had there been someone like Bryan or Punk right now here, you'd be perfectly fine with it. Everyone knows Cena kayfabe is mighty strong, hardworking and gives in his everything to his work & matches. Him losing twice in row would be just stupid at this point. Now they've Lesnar against Authority as well, who was looking more like a face lately. So it's totally fine booking

When Vince said that he was unleashing cancer upon the WWE back in 2002, he wasn't talking about the NWO.
He was talking about The Prototype.

Him looking equal or stronger is contradictory to the story they are telling: which is Roman Reigns (or whomever) being the one to eventually conquer the seemingly unbeatable monster at WrestleMania, thus putting him on a pedestal high above everyone else and making a megastar. Cena, because of his established credibility, is and needs to be the sacrificial lamb here. It makes Brock all that more scary and imposing and leads viewers to wonder just who could stand up to the mighty Brock if the guy who has beaten everyone cannot. It's simple storytelling. And people are annoyed now simply because Cena's role in this case in this story is not to be dominant. It is to die to create a super villain. He's not the hero of this arc. He's the steppingstone.

Plus you know, we're getting on for 10 years of Cena being the main guy, of him being booked like Superman. Of the entire show being booked to be all about him.
It started to feel really boring and stale in about 2008/2009 and yet here we are 5 years later and nothing has changed. Other than his jorts I suppose.

And even if you cast all that aside, and Cena's story WAS to have the big heroic comeback. What I and the rest of the people are saying is that it's just really lazy writing to have a guy go "You destroyed me, but I'm better now and can win." in short order with no sacrifice or methodology for him to be able to accomplish that. To use a comic book analogy: If after Bane broke Batman's back, he was back two issues later walking upright and planning to take it to Bane with no doubt whatever--that's a terrible story. Wisely, they didn't do that. It took months for Bruce to even be able to walk and actually someone else took down Bane in the interim. Then that someone (Azrael) perverted all of Bruce's ideals and he had to become Batman again to take down an even greater threat both on a physical and emotional level. And they STILL didn't have him just waltz back in and claim the suit. They did an entire arc of him re-learning his skills etc. You can't have the hero down in the second act, and then fast forward to the climax without some time spent with him figuratively crawling out of that hole.

Why can't we just live in a world where everyone accepts that John Cena is the bestest, strongerest, neat-o-est guy in the universe?

Just got done watching the replay. I'm convinced more now than I've ever been - Cena has to go. Nothing interesting ever gains any traction in this company because they just sacrifice it at the feet of this stale cartoon character. Edge's first title "reign". The Nexus. Ryback. The Wyatt Family. Now, Brock Lesnar - invincible monster. I'm just done. I'll be sticking exclusively with NXT from here out until something changes.

The match made Lesnar look dominant. He still was in control for 75-80% of it. It was already established that Cena is cagey enough or gutsy enough to take the beating and pin Lesnar out of nowhere he did it at Extreme Rules and almost did it at Summerslam.
It's quite clear (and has been the entite story if you're paying attention) that this was eventually going to end in the cell. It has to. You can't invent a feud for a HIAC match in one month. That's just stupid
You also didn't want to hot potato the title so Cena couldn't win the match clean. But you absolutely could not have reversed things and had Cena be the one down for the count when Seth interfered
1. Because he's cashing in on the guy who was in control of the match
And
2. On what basis does Cena have to demand another match?
You had to establish that John Cena can beat Brock to have the blowoff. Otherwise it might as well of been Ryder vs Lesnar in the cell.
At Hell in a Cell Brock will almost certainly demolish Cena again Summerslam style. Probably even more brutally than last time. And no one will remember this match with the crappy ending because the only two that ended decisively will end with Cena in a heap and Lesnar bouncing around like a maniac
I know it's a running gag to say lets see how it plays out, but cmon. Just see how it plays out
If Cena wins OR if Brock wins in shady fashion at HIAC I'll be right there with you all screaming how stupid they are.
But THIS match made sense and the ending you could see coming a mile away.

So it's totally fine booking As an isolated incident yes it's alright but people with this argument also need to realize the core problem is we have been watching this story with John Cena take up the main event spot for about ten years. So it isn't so much the story itself (though it is flawed) more than it's about the players involved that irks everyone.

The guy who broke the Streak and mauled Cena at SummerSlam just got massacred in the last five minutes of a match, only surviving due to a DQ. It's over. There is no more question of whether or not anyone can stop "The Beast", because everyone just saw John Cena kick his ass.

Then Cena hit him with his finisher on a fluke and had him on the ropes. In the last two months Brock has kicked out of the AA three times. Why are we supposed to kayfabe assume that the fourth one was going to pin him? Maybe Cena had him beat. Maybe Brock was gonna kick out. Guess we won't know until we put them in a big f***ing cage with a roof so no one will interfere and let em settle it once and for all. You can watch it all unfold for just 9.99! There you go. The next month of programming in one paragraph.

That was just awful, first the Miz wins, then Cena does. WTF?! I wouldn't trust WWE Creative to properly book a library at this point.

Personally, I say Cena / Rollins will and Lesnar's not defending the title until Survivor Series.

HIAC matches are too unremarkable now for them to be "brutal blowoffs" requiring Brock to continue wrestling Cena.
It's now a regular match except you can now thrill at people not only being irish whipped into the ring steps, but also tossed into the harmless fencing around the ring. It's the one match so comically crippled by the no blood rule that it shouldn't even exist anymore.

(Spoiler: Brock wins) If Brock finishes Cena decisively and cleanly in the Cell I'll see it that way too. Cena needs to come close, but he has to lose and spectacularly. If its a cheap win to protect Cena (who does not need it) the story will be compromised. Cena's the Heath Ledger in The Patriot to Roman Reigns' Mel Gibson. His death (or destruction in this case) drives the endgame.

Sorry, but unless the idea is to prove that "our way is always right", then having Brock be a monster du jour is just plain idiotic. It doesn't draw money, and Brock Lesnar does draw money, he has everywhere he's gone. Cena looking strong against Lesnar after taking the promo shot at Taker means exactly this. The Streak, the last consistent WrestleMania selling point, was sacrificed as a plot device to give John Cena some odds to overcome. He won but didn't win, which means in the blowoff he WILL win. That's his pattern, and his arc. HE "looks weak" (which at least this time his decimation was something new), then he "finds his pride", then he "overcomes". That's his three step process, and while this isn't like the Wyatt feud where he just made the new monster his bitch, we're going back down that same ol' road.
