Shadow of Mordor was released today and is insanely awesome. Stealth LotR is a better idea than it may seem. Think of the batman Arkham games making sweet love to Assassin's Creed, and the baby only getting the best DNA.
Story is kind of flat, but not bad. The game is just so much fun. The AI is gloriously stupid for the stealth, but decently tough for open combat.
The previous generation versions are nerfed a bit (no nemesis system, which is the highlight of the game), so buy it new Gen.

I haven't bought a game day one or paid full price for a game in ages but I decided to pick this up for my Xbox One and it is a total blast. I haven't even bothered with the story missions because I'm too busy fighting everyone.
Arkham series combat but more brutal + goofy fun stealth + a solid story + Lot = fun.

Picked it up tonight (trading in old games + credit on my PowerUp card + $10 off coupon = not paying a dime for it) and just about to pop it in. Great to hear it's fun as it sounds.

It's not out here until next Wednesday but I will be getting it. The reviews I have seen so far have all been great.

I'll definitely be getting it when I go home next. Looks goddamn awesome, I was reading various stories of the Nemesis system in action and it sounds amazing. One dude ended up burning an Orc, and he came back with ethereal skin, not knowing how he'd ended up like that.

I want this but it's not out until next weekhere. I ccould get it from PS store on my uk account but it's 59 quid. I am not and never will pay that for a game. Especially when the stores here will be selling it for 30.
Why is PS store so expensive? You'd figure they'd make it cheaper to encourage people to use it.

No Nemesis system on the PS3? Well that sucks. I'll definitely be getting it when I go home next. Looks goddamn awesome, I was reading various stories of the Nemesis system in action and it sounds amazing. One dude ended up burning an Orc, and he came back with ethereal skin, not knowing how he'd ended up like that. In a Lets Play that I watched yesterday, one Orc fight ended with them getting shot in the eye with an arrow. Somehow, they survived and faced the player again, only with a steel plate covering the injured eye. Its even more awesome when you see how the entire system plays out.

They aren't cheaper because of retail partners who would be pissed if under cut. A few have apparently told console makers if they pull that shit they wont sell the consoles. And they need places to sell those.

This exact thing happened to me. The system is seriously the high point of the game, and probably one of the coolest things to come out of gaming this year. It's proving why next-gen is finally here. Either way, while the story so far is okay at best, the combat system and just going around the map, taking care of captains and side missions definitely makes this one of the best games I've played this year. Yeah, it's been done before in Arkham and even Assassin's Creed, but nothing is more satisfying than stunning an enemy with your Wraith Flash, doing the beat down, then lopping off his head in slow-motion. SO. F***ING. SATISFYING.

I downloaded, the 7th release date is the physical copy. The downloadable copy was available Anyway, only a couple of hours in but it is awesome so far. Love the designs of the Orcs and the Nemesis system is amazing. I entered a battle with a tough Captain on one of the red missions and his bodyguard speared me with an arrow. The underling who speared me got promoted, challenged another captain to a duel and took his place becoming Shaka the Spearmaster which was awesome. I haven't started any of the story missions yet. I started one, but the cut scene referenced me "listening to slaves" which hasn't happened yet so I'm wondering if I need to do the Slavemaster mission first, then do the mission with the captive/bullied orcs since it seems the Orc mission is referencing the Slavemaster one. But anyway, great game. It's a hell of a lot of fun and I hope the nemesis system get's stolen by other games since it's a great idea.

I have about 10 or 11 hours into it and I have barely touched the story mode. I have been too busy making my own stories. I am always sad to see my biggest enemies fall, and I get really happy when some of them come back scarred and with a story to tell about how they survived or to brag about me not doing enough to kill them. My favorite was Gorfel the Wrestler. He was basically my Joshua Graham, because I lit him on fire and threw him off a cliff, but he came back all maimed and said it would take more than that to kill him. I could never quite get the better of him, nor him of me. We'd fight, but either I'd be overwhelmed by his berserker and shielded forces or he'd flee when I crushed his soldiers. Every time we fought we'd lock up, and he'd mock me and say it was time to kill me, but the first time we fought one on one he bested me, and then he actually let me live, saying it'd be too easy to kill me. Then the time after that I interrogated him for some intel, and it SAID he died, but I knew he didn't. He came back and said it'd take more than some elf magic to put him down, and we continued our feud. He didn't flee after I wiped out his forces. It was one on one, and we fought to the death. He fell to his knees once I did enough damage, telling me that I had better finish the job this time. I was given the option to execute him or to gather more intel, and I was considering doing the latter because I didn't REALLY want my greatest enemy to die...but I executed him. I think it is what he wanted. His head went flying, and I was overcome with a genuine feeling of loss. I got a yellow rune for it, though, and I use it in his memory.

Bought this along with Forza Horizon 2 last night. As of right now Forza has me hooked but I do plan on starting this game over the weekend.

I will echo that the game play is very Arkham-y (that's not a negative really) just from a gameplay standpoint it's not really anything new. The nemesis system is pretty sweet, and I also had the Orc that was shot in the eye having a face plate... when I ran into him again he yelled that I ruined his face so he was going to wear mine... I promptly cut his head off Storyline wise I'm not terribly far in but so far it's not anything ground breaking and unless they take a massive left turn I'm pretty sure I already figured something out that's going to be treated like a massive twist. That said so far I think it's worth at least a play through if for nothing else to toy with the nemesis stuff, though if you don't like the Arkham combat system you will hate this game as it is pretty much identical.

My feud with Shaka was awesome. I feel sad it's now ended. After beating me and getting promoted from a lowly bodyguard to a Captain, I tracked him down to interrupt his ambush session. He taunted me asking if I had a twin brother who he killed. Part-way through our battle not one, but TWO more Captain's appeared out of nowhere. One flat out ignored me and attacked Shaka whilst the other battled me for a while before fleeing. As soon as he fled, out of nowhere, Shaka speared me again killing me for a second time gaining in power. Round 3. I interrupted his recruitment. This time he taunted me asking how many times he needs to kill me. He managed to kill me again, this time with a close range spear after his underlings managed to wear me down. Once more he gained power. Round 4. I tracked him down to his duel with another Orc. As soon as the other Orc started winning, I killed him with an arrow to the head and leapt down to battle a weakened Shaka. This time, I managed to beat him down, interrogate him and kill him. I feel sad the feud has ended, especially since my final victory was tainted. I kinda wish I'd let him live to see how high up the ranks he went. Hopefully he pops up again since an Orc I thought I'd killed before managed to survive somehow and came back to taunt me. Anyway, I've got a budding rivalry developing with another Orc who managed to kill me early on the game and each time I try to fight him he flees. Another rivalry is with a hooded Orc who, I had him on the brink of defeat but he had a special, quick fire attack with his arrows that knocked me down. He laughed in my face and spared my life. Now his motivation has changed to "bragging to other Orcs about how he insulted Talion to his face and walked away" which is awesome. The only thing about the Nemesis System is, I do sometimes get tempted to let an Orc kill me to see what happens to him

Speaking of the nemesis system my first fight of the game had like 5 of the named orcs trying to kill me Though the greatest death of a named guy was completly independent of my actions... it got eaten by one of the dog things while I was sneaking around
