Jack Evans has upped his game tremendously over the years. Don't forget, US/Canadian audiences haven't seen a ton of him since the mid-00s. Ultima Lucha card is shaping up awesomely. I actually look forward to Jack Evans matches in Triple A

Striker just called Willie Mack "Lucha Ron Funches".
It's not particularly accurate, but it's still fun to hear Ron Funches be mentioned.

I have to admit that backstage segment with son of havok, ivellise and katrina made me laugh. It was great, and it led to a pretty good match. Though I did think that Mil would murder Havoc so they could free up the Trios belts for some other team to win and then the misfit team can come back and win it when Ivelise isn't injured. Or maybe I was just hoping that.

Freakin' Pentagon Jr.'s master is going to be Konnan isn't it? If you want to know, I'll PM you. Anyway, another solid episode. They're building up Ultima Lucha nicely. I'm glad it's free, but I'd have bought it on PPV no questions asked. Lucha-taker is quite possibly the best built heel I've seen since Umaga, and Catrina... well, that speaks for itself.

Freakin' Pentagon Jr.'s master is going to be Konnan isn't it? Are we absolutely CERTAIN Russo has no role with Lucha Underground? EDIT: After watching the segment with Blue Demon, I strongly suspect Russo may be writing some of this.

Was glad to see Havoc get in some nice offense on Muertes, I feared it would be a glorified squash. The vignette with the trios champs was good too.
I liked The Mack getting the big surprise upset over Cage. Cage had been a monster to this point, Puma couldn't hang with him straight-up. Adds real fun to the matches when underdogs can sneak legit wins out here and there.
Still not feeling the Disciples of Death. Muertes is a great monster heel but the disciples just feel like random minions so far. But with Ivellise out maybe they do need to put the belts on somebody else a while.
The main event was solid. Jack Evans continues to show how he has developed in AAA. Mundo got a needed W, some momentum back before he puts Patron over at Ultimate Lucha.
The Blue Demon turn and feud with Texano felt rather forced.

The Lucha Underground tv only format is causing them the same problems as TNA is having since cutting their sources of income like house shows. LU is dependent on the network money to keep the operation going. Instead of capitalizing on Lucha Underground's buzz and running official house shows and/or selling merchandise of their popular acts, they sit around waiting on the network's next check arriving. Season 2, going from an interview with one of the show runner, is going to be more stripped down. So a lot of the stylized camera work from the vignettes about take a hit.

I've only seen very small pieces of Lucha Underground thus far. Today I listened to Stone Cold's podcast with Eric Van Wagenen, executive producer of Lucha Underground. This show was one giant endorsement of Lucha Underground - the best I've heard thus far. This show actually got me excited to finally check out the product. I hope it's a good as they say. I'm sure established LU fans will find this podcast worth listening to: www.podcastone.com/pg/jsp/program/episode.jsp?programID=436&pid=521940

Maybe strip away all the shots of LA (or if they move the venue, they won't need it, or can do it less frequently), if getting that footage is so expensive. Again, lose the music acts. They're probably not cheap, and not worth 20 seconds of airtime to shell money to. Does anyone know is Robert Rodriguez truly a wrestling fan, like Ted Turner was with WCW?, Hopefully he'll insist that it always be part of his network.

I'll be seeing a lot of the Lucha Underground stars tomorrow at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Fenix faces Pentagon Jr., Drago and Sexy Star team up with Bengala on the opposite side, and the main event trios match features Blue Demon Jr., Texano and King Cuerno, who will be in his AAA gimmick El Hijo Del Fantasma.

So basically, money is the best and worse thing to happen ever. It's going to be a tragedy if this show dies out after one season because it's losing too much money. LU is the most fun thing I've seen in wrestling outside of CHIKARA in many years, and if it doesn't get to reach a bigger audience, I'm going to be heartbroken.

I'm also hoping El Rey becomes more widely available. I'm moving into a new apartment, and El Rey is only on the most expensive cable package option. Hopefully it can be added to lower level options in the future where LU will get more exposure.

It's on their basic channel tier, and it may be worth the investment.

I met Fenix, Pentagon Jr. and King Cuerno last night. Pentagon even took the in-house band's sousaphone at the end of the show, and strutted around playing it. Awesome man.

They've done a bang up job with the character of Mil Muertes. There's been similarities to the Undertaker, but LU has made this their own. Rather than being a soulness, soft spoken deadman like UT, Mil is a raging monster that clawed out of hell.
And that Aztec garment he wears as part of his entrance works, instead of making him looking funny. It's like he is an ancient Aztec demon, and all those sacrifices by the Aztecs were made in order to appease him. Mil is what they were trying to keep at bay. I'm guessing the season finale ends with him getting the gold(if you know the spoiler, just let me find out on my own). In turn to really build up whichever face dethrones him(to get a major pop).
