No and that's why it was the losing stipulation and not the winning one. Heck they gave away this match multiple times on TV so they are just doing this to fill time.

Oh man it was so cringeworthy the way Ambrose won and got his match with Rollins as the commentators frantically were like YEAH BUT CENA AN ORTON TOO! OH MAN, CENA VS ORTON! DON'T FORGET ABOUT CENA AND ORTON, THOUGH.
My GOD, just let go, WWE. It's time to move forward.

Honestly, I don't give a f*** about Cena/Orton as long as we get Ambrose/Rollins. I'm not gonna pay attention to the match anyway so what's it matter? They'll dick around, have a well-worked match in the semi-main event, and then let Ambrose/Rollins take center stage. No harm, no foul IMO. Pretty much this. Plus with expectations being so low, they could still pleasantly surprise us.

Was it Royal Rumble 08 or 09 where these two went face to face to tease a Mania match and were met with dead silence? That still stands out to me as one of the bigger WWE fails. It was the 40 man one Del Rio won IIRC. It's even funnier because they tried to do it a second time in the same Rumble to similar indifference.

Couldn't have been either of those shows. Orton wasn't in the 08 Rumble (defended the WWE title against Jeff Hardy) and Cena wasn't in the 09 Rumble (defending the WHC against...JBL, I think?) I'm almost positive they had a face to face deal in the 2013 Rumble though. EDIT: Actually, Starshine is right, it was the 2011 Rumble.

I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt that they know they're beating a dead horse here. The thing is if we're gonna get Ambrose/Rollins, we have to either get Cena/Kane or Cena/Orton. Any combination of those three just can't be good.

I think they know, they just have no where else to go (willingly). Yea it's like they either lack talent on the roster or the main event scene is so locked down where nobody else can enter that you always end up with the same guys. I don't understand why they changed their original idea of Cena vs Ambrose and the winner getting Rollins on the same night. It would have been epic, worth a PPV buy or worth the 9.99. But not this.

Imo it's better this way because they can at least squeeze an extra match on the card rather than have Cena and Ambrose work two matches each

What's hilarious is that for this one there's literally no stakes. Why are they having a match? Eh, cuz they're there.

I'm just wondering, why would either guy consent to (kayfabe-wise) the most dangerous match in WWE when they have no real beef with each other ATM and there is no reward for the winner? I would walk out if I was Cena or Orton.

So why can't we just finish off Cena Lesnar now instead of at the RR?

The Cena-Orton, Part XXXVII shouldn't be in the cage unless something drastic happens next week that we haven't seen before like Orton attack John's father or something which leads to Cena promising vengeance.

Eh, it's not like they like each other. There didn't need to be particular stakes, whenever Martel and Santana were in a match like a Royal Rumble or Battle Royal, one made a beeline for the other and they kicked the shit out of each other. Cena and Orton have believable past beef to draw from, including that Cena isn't really the Authority's biggest fan.
That said, filler.

So why can't we just finish off Cena Lesnar now instead of at the RR? The deal they have with Brock seems pretty freakin bizarre. I don't know how many dates he has but it'S become pretty annoying. I agree they should have ended it at HITC.

I figure the problem is no one else who's healthy is built up enough to pose a kayfabe threat for Cena or Orton except maybe Rusev who's busy with Big Show. Sheamus is busy with Miz and basically anyone not in the authority storyline has been second banana. So we get Orton/Cena because who else are they going to face? I guess the logic is that Cena still gets to take on an authority member since he has a beef with them ever since last month.

They should make Orton/Cena be for the Number One Contender spot, so that we can see Orton/Lesnar at Survivor Series. Then Cena can lead a Survivor Series team.
