Is it just me or am I getting old, but to me it seems like the last game system generation is already done and gone. It's been less than a year since the PS4 released, but it already feels like I can't get any of the games I really want for my PS3 anymore. Either they're just not being released for PS3 or they're missing huge features which are the main reason I want the game. I don't remember the PS2 feeling so outdated in less than a years time. Wasn't it quite a few years until the PS3 really had a must have game not available on the PS2?
Xbox was a bit different for me Because I wasn't a fan of the original, but I got a 360 when Rainbow Six Vegas came out, although I don't remember how long that was from when the 360 came out.

Well this gen took 8 years (from the 360 to ONE) to upgrade compared to previous trends of 4-6 years. Also how can you say that when it seems like every new gen game has a last gen counterpart?

It is for me because I still have an old xbox 360 arcade with 10g hard drive and a flash drive which are next to full. So I can't run any of these new games as the memory needed is huge.

I believe I see much more crossover of generations for the current/last gen than I remember for the ps2/ps3 era.
From what I remember a lot of the must have games for the ps3 and 360 came out soley for the ps3 and 360.

Why wouldn't it be dead? It's the last generation. What game designer wouldn't want to be tinkering with the new shit rather than the old shit?

Didn't the Boarderland game just come out on the PS3/360?

Didn't the Boarderland game just come out on the PS3/360? This. Plus, Ubisoft are releasing an Assassin's Creed game that's exclusive to last gen. So I'd say it's still got a while to go.

the current gen is dead to me. let alone last gen
the so called next gen consoles are laughably weak. they can't even reach 1080p in most games (which was touted as going to be the standard last generation) nor even stay at 30 fps let alone 60
none of the exclusives are really appealing to me either. (WWE 2k15 would be nice, but it's hardly a system seller, and unless someone made a cock up it looks like a PC release is on its way)
I don't want to be a condescending arsehole but since moving to PC back in January I would never go back to a console (apart from my 3DS, I love that thing even if I barely play it nowadays)

Last gen games are still being released But yes most are missing parts that are on the current gen systems And they rightfully should.

While Yes, there are last gen counterparts, the game features I want to try aren't in last ten. WWE 2K15 and Shadow of Mordor, for example. The main selling point for each game that I personally am interested in isn't available for the system I own. Whereas for my PS2, I went years without a single reason to buy a PS3. The PS2 games coming out were still great while the PS3 ones all seemed mediocre at the time.

The PS2 games coming out were still great while the PS3 ones all seemed mediocre at the time. Therein lies the rub. I feel like these companies now need more ridiculous reasons to justify making the jump to next-gen considering that just by looking at the games it isn't very obvious, so they cut features in last gen copies to persuade people to make the jump. I was mortified the Nemesis thing was cut completely on the 360/PS3 versions of Shadow of Mordor and I'm willing to bet someone will come in and say it was due to hardware limitations, but that doesn't sit right with me. Like, if that were the case and you knew the nemesis stuff couldn't fly on last-gen, I'd think they'd really find a way to compensate for it all throughout the dev cycle. ...but I see. You have to manufacture reasons for people to upgrade despite the diminishing returns. Maybe I just come from an age where none of games you got at home compared to the shit you could play at the arcade, so games were always expected to compensate for that in some way.

You got hundreds of good to great games that can be had for dirt cheap from the 360/PS3 that you can go back and play there had to be a few you missed. The new gen doesn't grab me either but maybe its my older age I'm content sticking with my current systems from 360, PS3 and Wii U and playing what I missed.

Not heard this. I know 2K is more supportive of their PC fanbase to an extent so I could see it happening. Just curious where you saw this.

My backlog is slowy getting whittled down but there's enough to keep me busy for a while along with me not really gaming as much as I used to.

I heard rumblings of it the other week so I asked about it in the WWE games thread on here. Someone mentioned that during the roster reveal on the WWE network box art for a pc version is shown www.hardcoregamer.com/2014/09/22/wwe-2k15-confirmed-for-pc-release/106812/the article I linked makes alot of assumptions. it is possible whoever did the graphic design for the roster reveal f***ed up and its not planned for PC release. I doubt its going to come out the same time as the console version if it does or we would have heard something official by now

Like I said, 2K aint shy about their PC audience so it is possible. Keeping my fingers crossed. Oh and sorry for derailing the thread for everyone else.

I think its the other way myself to be honest. I thought the switch from ps1 to PS3 was quite quick whilst with this gen a lot of games are still exclusive to last gen

Why wouldn't it be dead? It's the last generation. What game designer wouldn't want to be tinkering with the new shit rather than the old shit? Because, not everyone has several hundred dollars to throw down on a new system, especially if they still see value in the old system. PS2 was still selling plenty of games well past the point in which they shouldn't have. Hell, with the exception to the PS2 and Wii, I have always waited a year or two to upgrade, since I've learned that many late release games are still very very good.
