The best players from any sport don't always make the best trainers, coaches or managers, in fact many of the best in those positions are guys and girls that had mediocre playing careers or in a few cases never played at all. I honestly feel the "WWE homegrown" types would've been a lot better off if someone more "successful" or at least someone with a better reputation as a worker were in charge of developmental. Can you imagine how good one of the "green football players" would be if someone like Regal got his hands on him? Being good at a thing doesn't correlate with being able to teach the thing. They're different skillsets; you get guys who are great with both, sure, but it's not a guarantee. Not to mention, very few of the top guys want/financially need to teach once their careers wind down. It's why if you look at the roster of trainers for NXT and even a lot of the road agents, there is a lot of guys who didn't really have star power.

I don't mean that Taker should be the head trainer, just that the people teaching this stuff should be reasonably qualified. FACT (TM Tyson Kidd), "WWE Guys" have a bad reputation for being "bad" wrestlers. That needs to be fixed. Doing the same thing they've been doing, but just with a fancy new facility isn't enough. hell, some of the road agents have better reputations as workers. Why not have Noble or Finlay doing that instead of being producer.

Why not have Noble or Finlay doing that instead of being producer. But again, are they good at teaching? They're good workers, and as road agents they help lay out matches which could well be what they're good at, but maybe the actual teaching of how to wrestle isn't something they can do. Some people are really good at math to the point it's second nature to them, but lock up when trying to think of how to explain it to someone else because they can't put their instincts and thought processes into words someone can get. Wrestling is the same thing. Finlay was even trainer for the divas back in the day; he gave us Ashley Massaro and Christy Hemme. The fancy new facility definitely seems to be helping though; the bar for talent from recent call-ups is significantly higher than it was, and for a developmental show NXT has a lot of talent on it.
