Westbrook is inhuman. His 4th straight triple-double with a 49 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists night.
The Russell Westbrook Experience is glorious.

Man, I can't even be mad at the end of that game. That last scoring play from Chicago was a thing of beauty.

Westbrook's triple double streak ended. He's still playing at a crazy high level right now. But I hate the way they aren't utilizing Kanter. They traded for him to help spread the floor. Ibaka has been going out to 3-point land a lot more the last 2 seasons, so Kanter's short range and baseline game should have a place in the game. Yet West keeps ignoring him, while hitting Ibaka or McGary or anyone else. Kanter can play a key role for this team is they let him. I fear once Durant gets back, he's going to go from background player to total afterthought. He got 6 shots tonight, less than 3 bench players. Morrow is a good shooter, but he doesn't need to be taking more shots than Kanter.

Well, looks like the Warriors/Hawks are not going to pull a 2014 Pacers and go into a March freefall.
Then again, these teams are more balanced and have a bench compared to last year's one-dimensional Indiana squad.
I was admittedly a bit skeptical of GSW/ATL and their blistering starts after what I saw from the Pacers a year ago.

How ironic would it be if the 2015 Pacers, banged up and all, face the Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs and beat them? I don't see it happening, because Atlanta have been able to maintain their momentum.

Shaun Livingston kicking some ass today. It's always good to see him succeeding, even if it's against the Clippers.

Russ Westbrook deserves the MVP this year. He is playing at a truly insane level. Another huge triple double today.

I also really love what Kanter has brought to the team since the trade, and without a doubt I think the dude has earned his spot as being the starting Center going forward(as much as I like Steven Adams). In his 8 games with the Thunder he's had 4 double-doubles, and has had double digit scoring in 6 of the games. The dude is by far playing the best any Center who put on a Thunder jersey has played. He can score, he can crash the boards, and he's young, so he's only going to get better.

The chase for NBA MVP is a three-horse race between Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and Stephen Curry. All three are extremely worthy candidates.

It's refreshing to have an MVP Debate without the usual suspects for a change.

It's Harden or Curry...and if you do include Westbrook, Brow absolutely must be included but I won't because they both have missed too much.

A player on an 8 seeded team who missed 15 games and is just 3-3 in these last 6 where he's gone statistically bonkers is not winning the MVP. Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing player and might be the most fun person to watch in the league right now, but the MVP talk that's picked up since he started throwing up triple doubles just isn't realistic.
Curry is the odds on favorite - best player for the best team. Most efficient of the candidates, most beloved of the candidates. He's been amazing.
Harden is next in line, putting up great stats at an efficient rate while carrying a mediocre squad without Dwight Howard to the top half of an insanely stacked conference.
Russ falls in the third tier with LeBron and Brow. All three have had stretches of incredible basketball, and their teams would be no where without them, but they just don't have the resume of the top two candidates. Even with how insane Russ has been lately, they're just 2-7 this season when he scores 35+. Compare that to GSW being 3-0 when Curry does it, CLE being 6-2 when LeBron does it, and HOU being 12-1 when Harden does it.
Again, I don't want this to come off like I'm trashing Russ, because he's awesome. But one month of otherworldly basketball doesn't match up to Curry and Harden doing it all season. Even Kobe couldnt win the MVP when he averaged 35+ and put up incredible statlines similar to Russ in their ridiculousness, and it was because his team was barely winning. Throw in that Russ missed 15 games, that there are better MVP candidates this year than there were when Nash beat Kobe, and that no one has won an MVP without being a top 4 seed since Moses did it in 1981-82... and it just isn't happening.
