So MLB.com is starting the rumor that John Mozeliak will start his search for a big bat to go with Matt Adams by testing how unwilling the Marlins are to part with Giancarlo Stanton if they can't work out a contract extension.
Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. I'm still calling Michael Cuddyer.

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. I'm still calling Michael Cuddyer. I like Cuddyer a lot, but I'm leery going long term on a guy who's going to be 36 before the season starts (same goes for V-Mart.) That said, if you prorate his numbers over the course of a full season this past year, he's still a 30 HR/100 RBI guy. I'm guessing he's going to want at least three years. I figure $45M/three gets it done.

Mets signed OF Michael Cuddyer to a two-year contract. Mets also going aggressively for Troy Tulowitzki per Jeff Passan. Can't believe the Mets struck first in the FA market. Didn't see that coming.

They don't have that major trade piece anymore.

Cuddyer got 2 years/21 million. 8.5 in 15, 12.5 in 16.

I like the Cuddyer to the Mets deal. It's only 2 years and he can only help offensively.

I'm meh on the cuddyer deal. I mean we finally have 3 legit major leaguers in the OF, but we still don't have anyone that scares an opposing pitcher. We can't bank on David Wright being an all star anymore

Had a fun time reading the 2012 offseason thread. Two years later and: -d'Arnaud is our starting catcher and had a monster 2nd half. -Noah Syndergaard is one of the top pitching prospects in baseball -Wuilmer Becerra is quietly doing well in Low-A On the other hand, I also said: "Can't believe they're going to mortage the future for James Shields and Davis. KC will regret this. Edit: Royals acquire RHPs James Shields, Wade Davis and player to be named or cash from Tampa Bay for Myers, Odorizzi, Montgomery and Leonard. Good lord Dayton Moore, you're f***ing terrible." So it evens out
