For me, the Internet ruins a lot of stuff by driving it straight into the ground.
Examples:
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Yes, it was great, but the 'I am Groot' thing has ran its course. Enough. Please. - Any of the Nolan Batman movies. - Most Marvel movies. A lot of them are just okay, but God help you if you say anything other than they're perfect. Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger are two movies I thought were flat-out awful. I made the mistake of sharing this opinion on Twitter. Oof. - Doctor Who. f***ing Doctor Who, man. I went from thinking, "Hey this just isn't my thing" to "I want this to disappear forever!"

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Tommy Oliver. ESPECIALLY Tommy Oliver. Can't stand the amount of ass-kissing they give Tommy, and I certainly cannot stand the nostalgia hard-on for MMPR, too. It makes me sad that none of the other Power Rangers seasons gets the nostalgia hard on.

Super Mario Bros. At one point I was a huge fan of Mario. Then one day, some jackass found out I was a Sonic fan and started acting like a real asshole about while constantly flaunting about how Mario is better than every platformer ever. He'd have the other kids gang up and make fun of me about it, all because I liked Sonic better. Even got me beat up over it. This is why I mostly hate the Mario franchise now and wouldn't shed a single tear if Nintendo were to drop dead all of a sudden. Nintendo is another one that the fans kinda killed my love for. I LOVED the NES back in the day, but I got the Sega Genesis for Christmas, and I fell in love with it. The Super Nintendo was great too, but I never owned that system until I was way older. However, modern day, I can't stand Nintendo because of the fans. I remember when the Wii became big, and the Nintendo fans were declaring the second big console war was OVER and Sony and Microsoft were now just as dead as Sega was. Before that they clamored about the wars being over because of Goldeneye and the Zelda games on the 64, and after that, it was because of Super Smash Bros on the Gamecube. I've never been big into the whole "what console is better?" debate, but happily declare myself a Sony fanboy because of how awesome their customer support has been to me over years. But it really bothered me when the Nintendo fans went so gaga over the Wii and claimed my system was now utterly obsolete.

Most modern Anime. I got into Anime back in the mid 80s. When all you really had was a few dubbed films and lots of fan subbed tapes. Dropped out of the fandom in the early 90s when I went into the Army. Then in the early 2000s tried to get back in. But the fans I met were so snobby it drove me away. Had one fan tell me my fandom was shallow. I asked how that could be when I had went through the effort and money back in the day to buy fan subbed tapes. Turns out they were mad for 2 reasons.
1.I said I prefer Robotech to the three Anime shows it was made up of. 2.I had mentioned how I didn't understand why Dragonball Z was so big.
Then about 4 years ago had a run in with some real winners. I was at my local con,and had my cousin's 7 year old son with me. He is extremely shy and has issues dealing with people he doesn't know. So him going to the con was a big deal. He went up to a dealer and asked him "Sir do you have an Nauruto Comics?" Some "fan" was standing there and started going off on him because he didn't say Nauruto right and called them comics not manga. I tried to step in and get this "fan" to chill. But they didn't get the hint. My lil cousin got embarrassed and asked to leave the con. I was obviously mad. So I made a mental note of the "fans" name. The next day I went up to one of the con's board members, who is a good friend, told them what happened. He assured me it would be taken care of. A week later he messages me "Redacted I hate to tell you this but FAN spends lots of money at the con,so the board voted to not do anything about it."
I think these "Fans" don't realize how their behavior is driving away people. Or maybe they want the con to shrink so them and their 5 friends can peacefully talk about how "Evangelion is the best thing ever. And if you don't like it you are just too stupid to understand it."

Titanic: A great movie, I like it (now) just fine, but holy crap, the stupid women and the media insanity over it was sickening. It still irks me that this movie, while good but not great, still holds the number one highest grossing spot of all time. Avatar dethroned Titanic as number one highest grossing film of all time....unadjusted for inflation of course.

CM Punk. The guy was a great all round talent, but I just never fell in love with him the way most of the IWC did. And man, if you DARED suggest you didn't like anything about him!

Sports related, I'll say Odell Beckham's catch in the Giants/Cowboys game the other night. I didn't see it live but I saw people posting on Twitter about the great catch he made. I finally saw it the next day and while it was a good catch, I didn't think it was anything special. There are one-handed catches all the time these days and I just didn't see how that one was better than the others. Like I said, I thought it was a nice catch but I wouldn't call it close to being the best catch ever (which some are labeling it as).

I prefer watching dubbed anime partially out of spite for the total snobs who insist it's somehow morally wrong to watch it dubbed. well, that and I prefer to watch the show rather than read it.

I had a NES at the time, and this kid went on and on about how much better the Sega Master System was, and Sega in general. Needless to say, this turned into a war between the two of us.

Football, and I mean the NFL. Here's my take: I don't hate football at all. I respect the game and there are times when I can see why the majority of the US goes crazy over it, but I never really was a fan. I remember having been given crap because I wore Raiders gear, but in reality, the shirts and the sweatshirts that I wore were bought for me and I just wore them. I never really followed games, nor did I really watch them, I just wore the gear. However, I remember being among a group of friends and they were discussing football like knowing players' names and talking about draft picks, decisions made in plays, etc. and guess what? I had nothing to contribute to the discussion. Later on, I remember the same guys asking me which team I root for, and I said "no one." They didn't understand me at first, but then I told them that I just don't care for football. They told me that it was weird that I don't really care for football.
Not everyone cares for football, but it seems like it's considered odd if someone doesn't really care for it.

Quentin Tarantino films in general, and Pulp Fiction in particular. They're all good, but I don't put them on a pedestal like most people seem to. The Kill Bill duology are the only Tarantino flicks I had any desire to watch more than once.
Any NBAer hyped as the next big thing since Jordan retired - Kobe, A.I., LeBron, et al.

I can safely say that's never happened to me. Whenever I wound up hating something that got a lot of hype, it's because I just didn't enjoy said movie/series/book/game/musician/whatevs. This. I have a friend who always lets hype ruin things for him. I feel bad if you let other people's opinions bother you that much.

Shouldn't your beef be with the idiots who would assault you over a video game preference and not Nintendo? That said Nintendo fans can be extremely overbearing.

Citizen Caine: I've never seen this movie and refuse to see it. It's probably really good, but the critics and fans of it piss me the hell off. "Oh, it's the greatest movie ever created ever...no wait, it's the greatest THING ever created ever...it's the second coming, all hail Citizen Caine! Best movie of all time!" I think that "best of all time" title is kinda dumb, to begin with as it really does vary from person to person and what their tastes are. IMO, if Citizen Caine was so godly, why is it that the critics and mega fans can barely name any of the characters or only quote like one line from the whole damn thing? I know these don't "make" a movie, but to me and my tastes, yeah, they're kinda important. Again, I'm sure it's good, but until the damn hype dies down, I refuse to watch it. lol... "hype"? It came out in 1941, it has no hype, just reverence because of how good a film is. In 2014 a new Fast and Furious has "hype". Citizen Kane does not.

I knew that was not the word I wanted to use, but I couldn't think off the top of my head what I wanted to say. Let me rephrase myself: "I can't wait until the awe and worship of this stupid boring f***ing movie finally dies down, maybe I'll try to stomach my way past the first 20 boring as f*** minutes of it."
