I am just kind of stunned that staph infections, given how they can spread, wouldn't be high on any doctor's mind who treated wrestlers. Matt Hardy and Undertaker has particularly nasty run-ins with it, for instance, and given other athletes who share locker rooms tend to get it, they probably should always be on guard for that. Right? That's what takes this from "okay, maybe incompetent" to "recklessly endangering an employee's life." The doc HAD to have known that this was a possibility, given the profession they were in. At the very least he should've tested for it.

The terrific thing about threads like these is that the methodical way they go about trying to break down something ends up revealing more about the personality of the writer of the post than the subject they're actually talking about.

With a theory this specific, I fear that he wasted his entire Thanksgiving piecing together the timeline of events on a chalkboard in the basement of his house. Wouldn't even say hello to his Aunt Agnes. Just went upstairs for a piece of graham cracker pie and ran back down to attempt deconstructing why Punk went to Tampa to see a doctor instead of one nearby in Chicago. Nah, didn't take that long. Had a great holiday, but thanks for your concern. I understand we dare not question Punk, but, well, he's the one who in the same breath basically said WWE's doctor left him on death's door and at the same time he is told he's got a possibly fatal condition says he told the doctor that he didn't have time to go to the hospital. I find that quite curious. Personal experience? I've head some very life-threatening health situations over the past few years, was told by medical and non-medical people alike to get it taken care of. Most of it I had to put off due to not having the time or ability to do so, as my job and parental care take up all of said time and not being there for one or the other could be even more disastrous for me. Nothing "curious" about it. People push through because they find other things more immediate to their needs or obligations before their own health. They also tend to trust their doctors and don't get the "should have gotten a second opinion" UNTIL they actually have said second opinion dropped into their lap.

"Well, let's say we didn't have time for that."
I interpreted as - LETS DO THIS RIGHT f***ING NOW.
Most private practices aren't necessarily set up for procedures and either refer them to hospitals or set up a time later on to do the procedure at a facility better equipped for that kind of stuff.
So when the doctor says, "You should go to the hospital." I'd imagine Punk, or any reasonable person fairly burnt out on doctors, hospitals etc would prefer to handle it right there and right then if possible, rather than putting it off longer.

In the past 3 weeks we've had 2 patients in the clinic I'm at who put off getting X-Rays for several days for various reasons, after being told that they should do it that same day. Both found out they had broken bones. Not life-threatening, but it still shows a pretty common attitude that people have regarding health. If you think it's unusual, then you don't know the human desire to power through injury and avoid hospital stays. That is very common among a lot of people.

To be fair to WWE, if they're hiring a qualified doctor, isn't it the doctor who's at fault here? What more can they do beyond hiring a doctor? He sounds like a lazy f***er who couldn't be bothered investigating what was wrong with Punk. They can create an environment where performers have nothing to fear from being out of action, thus not putting on performers to perform with serious injuries or on the doctors to clear them to do so. And that's not a uniquely WWE problem, all sports do it, but it should be a higher priority for WWE since they have no off-season.

I like that when Punk was suffering with the staph infection, AJ stepped in and sent him to her own doctor, who managed to treat his problem. She's so adorable. I'm pissed my coworker or nobody else called me adorable when I gave the number to my massage therapist to fix his back Well, if you skipped and had Disney Eyes, you'd be adorable too.
