CM Punk in the first installment of his AOW podcast mentioned that the heel turn cost him a lot of merch sales, which makes sense -- who buys and wears a shirt of a guy they're booing and who is doing despicable things?
I've seen people cite merch sales leaders in threads from time to time, but not sure where to access that kind of info, so, my question is which heels have been on the upper end of merch sales in WWE/F and WCW history (as these are the only promotions to sell enough merch for it to mean anything, or to sell enough that you might actually see people wearing their shirts anywhere but an indy show).
I would assume that the nWo is the clear No. 1 here -- didn't hurt that the nWo logo shirts were completely badass design-wise.
My best guess would be Roddy Piper would be No. 2 -- I remember seeing "Hot Rod" shirts back in the day at the mall or wherever.
Apart from these two, I'm stuck. Certainly Punk's "Best in the World" shirts continued to sell, but not at the same rate from what he said and not sure how to quantify which were sold when he was face and which were when he was heel.
I wonder how turning heel affected Rock and Austin sales -- both remained incredibly over, but it may still have resulted in less sales by some degree than when they were booked as babyfaces.
Anyone have any ideas?

It has to be nWo, even marks booing them had their shirts.

Daniel Bryan was still a heel when the first 'Yes!' Shirt came out quickly followed by the 'No!' one.

Judging by the amount of people that share it on Twitter, quite a few people seem to be buying Seth Rollins merch, even though he's the scum of the Earth RN.

Chris Jericho is someone who I've always noticed had less merch released when he was a heel. But I imagine what he did have sold pretty well.

Ziggler's brightass pink shirts always seemed to be selling well prior to his face turn.

merch sales is the reason most the heels are obsessed with coming across as "cool" rather than being dickbags trying to get you to hate them.
In the territory days only the faces had merch and the faces would split the money 50/50 with the heel they were fueding with.
Then I guess the NWO showed that heels can sell merch.

Just to get it out of the way: Zeon. Such a great heel stable. On topic though, the four horsemen were popular.
