I mean you Ryback fans must be realizing this!? just watched the Survivor Series main event and he's clearly the worst wrestler in that match, worse than deteriorated Kane! he doesn't have to be a selling machine like Ziggler (au contraire), but good lord his offense looked awkward, clumsy and plain bad!
this is the guy that should get the rocket push? you gotta be kidding me
Goldberg and Sid were better than him ffs

I equate Ryback as the new Ultimate Warrior. Someone who won't win any awards for his workrate and cut some out there promos but damnit the crowd loves him and his charisma overrides his flaws.

Man, I think I joked about everyone turning against Ryback, a "Rybacklash" if you will, after the Punk-cast, but it's actually happened. Oy vey. Everybody loved the da big guy during the Rybaxel run, now he's got the same gimmick, but as a face, but Punk's said he's a moron etc and we're hating him now?

It's a combination of St. Punk's comments and Ryback getting a serious push again. I'm sure once he's back on Main Event losing 4 minute matches to Titus and Adam Rose, some will get back on the Push Ryback bandwagon.

The guy doesn't need to put on five-star matches with a broomstick- he's got charisma.
Besides, Ryback's a total shoot badass. I heard one time he took this one UFC guy, injured him, and left him crying for months over how bad he beat him up. Total badass!

While I have little doubt that there are some who hate Ryback based on Punk's opinion of him, this board has never been 100% pro or anti Ryback and I wish people would stop pretending otherwise. His detractors stopped being so vocal during his depush because it looked like he was on his way out the door, that doesn't mean they started to like him. I've never liked Ryback myself, he's too much in the Warrior/Ahmed Johnson mold for my liking, charismatic power guy who looks like a beast because he's not always as careful with his opponent as he should be, something I'm just not that comfortable with as a fan these days knowing how messed up people get on the WWE schedule.

I've been a big Ryback fan from day one. I love his power offense and the entire da big guy schtick.
I don't think a wrestler has to have tremendous mat skills to be successful, they just have to be entertaining. Ryback has terrific natural charisma and I don't really give much thought to what Punk said. People learn. People get better. Some people just don't get along with others.

I like Ryback. I also like Goldberg and Sid. You can't put a price on charisma.

Love the Big Guy. I don't care what grudges another wrestler carries. He entertains me when he's out there.

People were saying a similar thing in the Roman Reigns thread. NOT EVERYONE WILL HAVE THE SAME THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS. ONE GUY SAYING SOMETHING DOES NOT EQUATE THE WHOLE BOARD SAYING IT.

I've said it before many times and will say it many more.
It doesn't mean dick if you're good in the ring and no-one cares about you. Ryback is over. So as long as he's safe (which he appears to be now, at least) being a ring technician is irrelevant. As Mick Foley once said, 'Undertaker gets a bigger reaction jumping over the top rope twice a year than Taka Michinoku gets doing a twisting sakahura every night.'

Being good in the ring means dick if they don't give you anything meaningful to do or allow you to look like a real threat to begin with. The WWE are a company that are more inclined to book a flawed power guy to look like a boss than they are to give a guy like Taka time to really show off what he can do against a credible opponent and get over because a squash takes little TV time away from all important skits and recaps.

I wasn't trying to say the wrestlers are to blame for fans not caring about you, that wasn't my point - my point was if the fans care about a guy, him being terrible will be irrelevant. If Ryback is shitty in the ring (which I don't agree with) it doesn't matter anyway, because he's over. Yes this is often down to booking, but it's also often down to lightning in a bottle. A lot of people don't see shit in Dean Ambrose, but he seems to be pretty popular despite some often spurious booking - Hogan became popular and nobody can really pin down why that is, and he was rarely inclined to get his working boots on outside of Japan.

I kind of wish we had the more serious Ryback from before the heel turn, but nonetheless, when he returned as a face, the reaction was great. Ryback has a very unique personality, and plays the big guy role (no pun intended) well. He isn't god awful in the ring, and if you give him the right kind of match and opponent, his character can help make it all work.
