They are willing to die to say "F*** You" to another country for trying to censor our entertainment with their views. I mean, if a North Korean filmmaker decided to make a movie with President Obama being killed or other anti-American things going on, I don't think we'd see Americans hacking North Korea as retaliation or whatever. No, we wouldn't. And there have been films where the current president had been killed off (like that mockumentary called Death of a President). We may be outraged for a short while or really consider it news for a short while, but overall...it will still be released and those who want to see it will be allowed to see it. We have freedom of speech for a reason.

Assuming that the cyber-attack itself isn't an act of war, yeah there's no way that a country would sanction terrorist attacks in another country (let alone the United States of America). I think the reaction would be even worse because you do know how pissed off people would be if innocents were killed over Seth Rogan? Or for that matter, how that would affect Seth Rogan/James Franco. What a horrifying thing it'd be for everyone involved, really.

I want this to be true, but I don't take much stock in news reported by people who can't string together a proper sentence.

Crackle is the best option. It being free means that way more people will see it (and assuming Crackle runs on ad revenue, means Sony will still make some money), keeps it in-house so that there's no chance a different VOD provider gets hacked, and probably will restore some PR in the "We're still showing this" way.

I posted this half a year ago: twitter.com/madisoncarter76/status/480900296403464192You can bet someone will make a documentary about this. Probably as a bonus feature when it inevitably gets released. Rate things are going, might be the kinda thing Ken Burns would direct. Our own satire and entertainment outlets can be fairly rough on presidents, from playful jesting to damning mockery to absolutely vile to completely beyond any semblance of rationalization. One thing any of them have to play very carefully with is the representation of death in regards to a sitting president so as not to convey any sort of message of advocating such a thing. But no, I don't see a role reversal turning out the way this has. There would be outrage, sure, but not on this level. It might be the lead story on cnn.com for a day and a half before getting relegated to sidebar status, along with a couple of articles interviewing various outraged senators and congressmen/women. The talking head shows would play with it for a week or so, while it got some sort of notice on SNL and South Park by week two. By week three, every Cinema Snob-wannabe on Youtube would be reviewing the pirated copy they torrented.

Honestly I think Sony should just release it for free. It's a massive f*** you to North Korea where you can give away the movie for free to the biggest audience possible, give North Korean's who bypassed North Korean internet security a chance to see it which was the main reason why Kim Jong Un wanted this movie to never be released since illegal bootleg DVD copies of Team America was and still is a problem for them, and Sony's way of apologizing for cancelling out and not to make a bigger profit then they would have before with the huge publicity. If it was a marketing tactic this whole time I would of forgiven them but it's not.

Put it on the WWE Network, which you can get for the low price of $9.99.

Put it on the WWE Network, which you can get for the low price of $9.99. And they can get Ric Flair to host it, to help bolster relations with North Korea.

Out of concern of what might come next if North Korea losing Internet is a retaliation, I really hope this is a coincidence.

Based on the numbers this article mentions, this could be the equivalent of half of a community college's servers having issues. They don't have a lot of online presence.

But do the ads have to be so arbitrarily placed during whatever it is I'm watching? Wait until the scene ends, or an act break or something! Come on Crackle!

I just heard on local Atlanta news that the Plaza in Atlanta is planning to screen The Interview as original planned on Christmas Day. According to the story, the theater's owners struck the deal with Sony late last night and they will perhaps be the only theater in or outside of the U.S. to show the movie, at least for now. Here is a link to a local new website: www.cbs46.com/story/27694227/the-plaza-theatre-to-show-the-interview-on-christmas-dayThe Plaza tweeted: Breaking Plaza News: The Interview will open Exclusive on 12/25 . The Plaza will be one of the few theaters in the nation to open the film . — Plaza Atlanta (@plazaatlanta) December 23, 2014
