I don't think the people who are claiming this was a marketing gimmick have thought this through. Limit release as opposed to a general release isn't going to make them more money. Haha, right? "Here's what we'll do, make sure that big chain theaters won't show it, and it's in front of less eyes, making sure that we get FAR less potential dollars." "BRILLIANT!"

Also releasing it online means you can download a HD quality version of the movie illegally rather then waiting for it to come out on DVD so theirs no cam versions

We're getting it here, at a theater nearby, and it's the cheapest theater in the area, $7.50 evening tickets.
I'll be seeing it by Tuesday.

I really, really liked it. It's not going to win an Oscar or anything, but it isn't the misogynistic, homophobic, racist "bro movie" nightmare some media outlets claim it is.

There's a few articles on a couple of major sites tearing this film apart for some of the jokes. Seth Rogen has already responded on Twitter, which I can't repost for language reasons. Personally, it's no worse than some of the jokes on South Park.

I just watched it online (free) , it had some lol moments - but for the most part was predictable . There was some over the top "comedy " violence I could have done without seeing

It's alright. Like a 6.5 - 7/10 comedy movie to pass time. Like nothing was really bad about it and had some good moments and clever jokes but wasn't great or anything. James Franco was a bit irritating in the movie where I wondered if it was just the character he was playing or it's Franco's inability to play a tolerant hyperactive loud mouthed arrogant asshole comedic character. The first half of the movie is pretty slow and bit tedious but it really picks up on the second half of the film. But the guy who played Kim Jong Un really nailed it and steals the show.
I just wonder how Dennis Rodman really feels about the movie though.

It will be available on Youtube Google having your credit card? That's just as dangerous as getting hacked! Thank you, but I think I am a little busy sawing my left arm off with a rusty saw that I bought at the dollar store (and yes, I just recently seen a $1 saw for sale at the dollar store).

Yeah, I watched it last night after I got home from work when I found out I didn't have to work overnight after all last night. I enjoyed it, but it has that problem like a lot of movies where the best stuff was given away in the trailer.

My Dad decided to rent it on YouTube for Christmas day. It was pretty good. Nothing I would go out of my way to see under normal circumstances but it was a fun two hours to kill. Rogan and Franco had great chemistry together. Randall Park was hilarious as Kim Jong-Un. I really liked Diana Bang's character, I wish we would've seen more of her (Diana Bang doesn't even have a wiki page). Lizzy Caplan's character got annoying pretty quick but luckily they didn't spend too much time on her.

Watched it the day after Christmas with my family. I went in expecting the controversy to be much more interesting than the movie and I wasn't disappointed. Good movie but nothing I'd go out of my way to see again.

I saw the movie in theaters today. It was shown at a theater that is about a half hour away from me but I didn't mind the ride over there. It was the only one that was showing it in my area. Yes, I am aware I could have streamed it on my computer, but I actually like seeing things in theaters.
Anyway, about the movie itself, I really don't get why there was a huge stink over it. It was basically what you would expect from Seth Rogen and James Franco. I very much enjoyed "Pineapple Express" and "This is the End," so I had a feeling that I would enjoy this movie. I actually did. Sure, there were some bits that kind of went a little off the rails in its humor, but I kind of knew what to expect. Plus, I found the portrayal of Kim Jong-Un to be rather funny.
I am glad I finally got to see this.

So there was a song from a Korean-American artist that they wanted to use, but they couldn't reach an agreement. So they used it anyway but didn't pay or credit her.Nobody could ever accuse them of being classy, making a comedy out of a dictatorial regime where horrifying crimes against humanity are incredibly common, but... Yeah.
