Here's a name that I've never heard come up in Hall of Fame talk: Vince Russo. I know everybody hates him now. And I know that his booking got worse and worse and more ridiculous over the years. Even watching older Raws now I notice not that it was a bit of a mess. But when wrestling was so hot in the late-1990s he was at the heart of it. You can't help but wonder where the WWF/E would have ended up without him. I don't know if Vince McMahon would've came up with some of that iconic stuff. And I can't see why Vince McMahon would have anything against him since he brought WCW down. I still wonder if he was a mole. I think he agrees.

I agree with the line of thinking that while Savage is the headliner, his induction probably isn't going to close. And with with number of true headliners left to be inducted getting low, I could see them holding off on Rock, Sting, and Taker for their own years as headliners that can close.
IMO, you don't necessarily need a comparable name in size with Savage to close. Ideally, you'll want to send the fans home happy, someone that can talk well, has a TON of awesome road stories, has ties to the old guard and just about every name since then, and is relevant to the audience today. So, I could actually see JBL getting inducted and being the guy that closes the show. From his start in Global wrestling the Freebirds, to road stories with guys like Terry Funk, Flair, Eddie Guerrero, Taker, Austin, Simmons, etc. I'm sure he could close the show on a high note as well as anyone.

I'd like to thank Stone Cold, because I'm convinced Macho would not be going into the Hall of Fame this year if he hadn't have put pressure on Vince in that interview.

Well I know it's easy to laugh at and dismiss Vince Russo right off the bat. I'm naming him because I don't know exactly who was responsible for writing what in 1998/1999. I know he was behind all the gonzo gimmicks and shit on poles matches. But as he was head writer at the time I can only assume that he was also responsible for shit like: - "It was me Austin, it was me all along"-BANG 3:16 -Vince in the hospital -Stone Cold driving in on Zambonis and Beer Trucks -I think he was gone by the time of This is Your Life Rock? All iconic stuff. But if you can tell me he was just shit on pole matches... And if he was responsible for that stuff think of what it all did for the WWE in a monitary sense. You and me were already watching. We watched before and we watched after. But that shit brought in all the casuals in the late-1990's and brought the WWE millions and millions of dollars and brought them out of a hole.

It's a shame so many folks associated with savage are dead. Elizabeth, sherri, warrior...hogan makes sense even though their history was troubled often. I wish genius/leaping Lanny was better as a performer so he deserved to be inducted without seeming phony.
I could see savage going on last. Hogans presence and a lot of oh yeahs and colorful confetti seems to feel a nice end to the event.

I don't ever see someone getting in just for booking and writing. Vince, Bischoff, Heyman, Graham, and Gagne were all promoters AND respected as actual performers. Russo's contributions as a performer, although decent on the stick, were not only a professional embarrassment, but turned away WCW's audience and never grew, perhaps even sabotaged, TNA's audience. The guy couldn't work a lick, had shitty matches, and only further devalued the WCW Title even more, his reign being the cherry on the shit sundae that was the year 2000 for that belt.

Terrible, cheap, tacky, trashy storylines and characters. Everything that's bad about pro wrestling And had he not come around when he did, the company probably would've gone out of business. The 90s might not hold up the best but it was a crucial part of the company's history and did more good than harm.

Lanny Poffo was interviewed by Wade Keller on Friday and Lanny indicated that he would be at the Hall of Fame, but he and Randy's mother would be unable to attend due to it being difficult for her to make the trip. Lanny is fine with Hogan being the inductor, though he personally would have liked for multiple people to speak about Randy, including Steamboat and Sheamus who says Randy inspired him to become a wrestler. Lanny says he wants to speak, so I imagine that Lanny will be part of the acceptance of the Hall of Fame induction, perhaps with Randy's widow, though Lanny didn't specifically mention this. Lanny indicated that he is working on a poem in the event that he gets to speak at the induction.
Off-topic, but Lanny also corroborated Hulk Hogan's story about reconciling with Randy at a hospital.

For the record, Russo's last WWF segment was basically The Is Your Life, Rock That was more about The Rock making an awful segment entertaining than the segment being a great piece of television.

Well, the WWE does have a reputation for incredible video packages, so I'm certain many people will be involved in the induction that way, at least. And I'd be surprised if his widow does get involved with this event. Lanny (and even Randy) commented in the past that she was the part of his life that was completely outside of wrestling (he knew her when they were kids, and they reconnected and got married after his career was over), and that because of this it was an element of his life that he was very content with. Although personally, I'd like to see it happen because it'd finally silence those folks who insist on seeing Randy and Elizabeth as a couple in the Hall of Fame and in the great beyond - nope, kids, they split up decades ago, and THIS is the lady who Randy's with in the end...

I don't know how awkward it would be, but if they played this....
I bet there wouldn't be a dry eye in the house.
