I'm seem to be getting into a habit of doing these video game polls. But they are fun, and I like reading everyone's feedback on them. This poll is about the best sports game or franchise ever. I left off racing games because I already did a poll about those. I left off wrestling games because thats a catagory in itself. Anyway I apoligize in advance if your favorite sports game isnt on the list, there are so many out there, and I know someone wont be happy. But thats why the other option is there. Enjoy everyone.

Madden went from being a football game to a piece of american history and culture. Therefore, it gets my vote.

ESPN NFL 2K series. It did football(American) RIGHT. Madden is boring, and overall the same crap over and over. To futher prove the 2K series was better than Madden.....Madden 2006 took some of the gameplay aspects from ESPN NFL 2K5!

My only problem with that, is that its a managment simulator more than a straight up sports game. Kind of like that new EA Sports game NFL Head Coach.

baseball mogul 2007.... its fun being able to play career mode from any year from 1901 on with real players. and it only takes like 30 seconds to sim through a whole season.

Other: The THQ/AKI wrestling series including WCW VS NWO World Tour, WCW VS NWO Revenge, WWF WrestleMania 2000 and WWF No Mercy
EDIT: I see you explain why you left off wrestling games, but, still, my vote stands. Wrestling is 10 times the sport skating is. Sorry.

Winning Eleven/Pro Evolution Soccer/ISS Pro (it's not ISS for the N64. These are the percursors of today's PES, and were only on the PS1)/Old ISS games (up to ISS Deluxe, then the series seperated into Pro and "not Pro").
BTW, you have NFL Street twice (a mistake, I believe)
Oh, and Championship Manager was good when it was Sports Interactive doing it. Now it's Football Manager that rocks, not crappy Championship Manager 05/06

Hard to choose only one. Pro Evolution Soccer is probably the most consistent series when it comes down to gameplay. I have a soft spot for EA's NHL franchise too. I bought them all from the first one to 2003 (Genesis 93-96, PC 97-2k3). Sadly the quality of the game went downhill since 2004, while EA tried to turn the game into a semi-managerial experience, totally forgetting to tweak the gameplay problems. (obscenely high number of hits per game, low saves %, too many shots, weak CPU defense, godlike CPU keepers, moronic AI) The third candidate is Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix series. GP1 (aka World Circuit) and GP2 alone would deserve the title. It's a pity the last two chapters weren't on par with the previous masterpieces, probably due to the outdated game engine, which was impossible to update without having to begin from scratch (or at least I guess/heard so). Anyway GP2 ruled the F1 racing game world for at least 5 years. and considering how fast things evolved from 96 to 2001, it's really impressive. Championship Manager was awesome and addictive, until they turned a game into a full time job experience. I don't think I want to invest one hour of my day just for setting up a new training schedule, only to find out, after a whole season (and hundred hours of gameplay), how that schedule was wrong and killed my players skills... A game should be a game... I still love old CM games though. So... Despite PES being the better franchise, I'll vote for Crammond's GP series. Hmmmm pointless nostalgia
