Braxton Miller plans to stay at Ohio State, according to one source Joe Schad spoke with. ...I think I'd have taken my chances with free agency...er I mean the senior transfer rule. Unless Myer comes to me and says "you are the guy, you are absolutely my starter" than I'd bail. Competing is one thing. Usually one on one for a job (Kenny Hill vs Kyle Allen last yr). A three way dance is bad option in the world of major college football. The risk is sitting while your draft stock plummets and you can do nothing to change it (if he doesn't get the starting role). Since Miller has graduated ya he's essentially a free agent if he wants to be. I agree that he's really rolling the dice on winning a three-way dance. Think he should have bolted. There are multiple teams that lost their starting qb and are ready to win this year. FSU, Oregon, and Baylor come to mind.

Baylor may have had five good years and two really really good ones, but Baylor is a step down from Ohio State brand wise. That program is one 8 win and one 7 win season from being discarded by ESPN and the rest of the press. I'm not throwing salt man, I promise. I am happy for Baylor right now but they still have a good bit to go before their efforts are solid and continuous. I grew up a SWC kid. I've seen them good then fall, rise then stumble then bottom out. Rinse and repeat. If they hold it for a decade than they are a Big XII stalwart but...they will never be Texas or Oklahoma. A&M had to depart the entire scene just to be taken seriously. Baylor needs something like that maybe

Miller would be tearing-up the Big12 defenses and the team would do no worse than 10-2. As you said he has to look-out for his draft status and he could protect that putting-up gaudy numbers at Baylor. That said ya Oregon would be the best option for him.

The NCAA visited Oxford, MS to question the stepfather of Ole Miss junior T Laremy as part of their investigation of the school.

Ole Miss is being investigated for NCAA violations including "... claims of falsified academic records and gifts made by the university." I believe many of us predicted this back when they had the top recruiting class outta nowhere a couple of years ago. A friend of mine I worked with, said when it happens it would be after a successful season and Alabama boosters would be the ones who tipped off the NCAA infractions committee (he's an auburn fan). I hope Ole Miss weathers this storm and gets a slap for it. But the NCAA has a string of losses under its belt and if they don't drop the hammer, it could be viewed as another loss. Then again at the going rate of invest Gat ion length/breadth, this one should wrap with judgements just in time for the 2019 season. And for good measure they'll take fifteen scholarships from Miami.

The $100 handshakes on The Grove are no secret. Neb lost a wr-transfer named Stringfellow under some sketchy circumstances to them a while back and have wanted to see them taken-down a peg since.

$100 handshakes to football players, isn't exactly a well kept secret. Group of Five schools should do double $100 handshakes and maybe they'd get the talent to usurp the power five. But seriously, I am not surprised but still it won't hurt them. The NCAA has no teeth and they also take forever to conclude investigations these days.

Deadspin now has the video of FSU freshman QB Deandre Johnson hitting that Woman I don't know if it's cool to share the link or not. I was going to but I dunno. I watched it and I understand where someone could claim self defense up to a point but from a use of force to defend yourself standpoint he had stopped the aggressor's action and could have shoved away and created a reactionary gap or disengaged altogether. He chose to swing. He connected. I've seen far worse. He won't even get a fine. Time served, probation maybe. As for his status with FSU? I don't even want to speculate. It stands to reason they'd hammer him to save face after forgiving Winston and twenty years worth of Criminoles they allowed to play on. But they have a well earned reputation for covering up or looking far enough the other way.

On the same day video of an altercation with a female was released, Florida State freshman quarterback De'Andre Johnson was released from the football team, per a school release.
"Florida State head football coach Jimbo Fisher announced Monday evening that freshman De’Andre Johnson has been dismissed from the football team effective immediately. Johnson was indefinitely suspended on June 25 following initial reports of an incident that occurred off campus and resulted in a criminal charge."

But I'd say he could have easily just walked away rather than grabbing her. I'd also say that his legit punch in response to her old-lady push-punch was out of line. If it was two guys this would be a non-issue, but it's not, and FSU already looks bad with the Winston deal. I'm not surprised he got booted.

I'm still in shock that Florida State actually punished someone. I think we all may need a collective moment to digest that.
