Even though he's had many great roles, it seems that Michael Keaton is well on his way to being remembered first and foremost as the definitive Batman. No way. He's also got Beetlejuice. Potentially Birdman could be a third over time.

Keenan Thompson will always be Keenan from Keenan and Kel.
People say his first name in the character sense, like "huh it's Keenan!" like the way people would say "it's Hootie!" when they see Darius Rucker. Except, in Keenan's case, Hootie is actually named Hootie.
That is a f***ed up place to be.

Anthony Perkins will always be Norman Bates, despite being nominated for an Oscar before playing this role.
I have to wonder if another Anthony, Anthony Hopkins, despite a very long career, will pretty much be remembered just for Hannibal Lecter. I want to say he doesn't qualify for this, but I'm honestly not sure. Maybe the role in the Thor movies helps. For the record, I've seen him in countless movies, but I'm trying to think about what the average person would think.

Dude is mostly remembered for just being good. Adam West as Batman is definitely a good pick, even if I don't like him in general very much. The dude has made a living off of that. Radcliffe as Potter/Grint as Ron will be two probably, although Radcliffe has made a pretty decent career and is a solid enough actor. Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor too I suppose.

Robert Englund, even without the make-up on, is always going to be known as Freddy Kruger, IMO.

Christina Applegate = Kelly Bundy Absolutely not. She has a number of roles at this point that overcome her first big TV role. Hell, she is more known as Veronica at this point.

Viggo Mortensen, Dominic Monaghan, and Billy Boyd will probably always be first and foremost Aragorn, Merry, and Pippen for most people. Possibly Elijah Wood for Frodo as well.

Kelsey Grammer as Frasier You might think so, but to kids he is either Beast or one of his many voice acting roles, most prominently Stinky Pete from Toy Story 2 or Sideshow Bob.

Therefore he doesn't belong in this thread. And as sad as it is to say it, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams all belong in this thread, unlike Harrison Ford. I think a decade or so ago you could've made an argument for Mark, but not now. Hell, then again I know more younger people know him for the role I'm thinking of (The Joker) than even know who Luke Skywalker is (only, tragically, having had exposure to the prequels). That's a voice role though, if they see Mark the first thing most people are going to think is Luke.

The majority of the casts of all the Star Trek shows. Even those who have had success in other things, like Shatner. I'd say the one big exception is Patrick Stewart, who is just as much Professor Xavier to the public as he is Picard. Oh, and Levar Burton. He'll always be Kunta to me.

Though if you hear Marina Sirtis talk, she could be Demona from Gargoyles as well.

It doesn't matter how many things Aaron Paul acts in from here on in, all I will ever see is Jesse Pinkman.

Kelsey Grammer as Frasier I'd argue David Hyde Pierce is the better example from Frasier. I'll also add Peter Weller as Robocop

I'd say two off the top of my head:
1) Heath Ledger as The Joker (though I thought he was good as Mel Gibsons son in The Patriot)
2) an easy one, Tiffany Thiesen as Kelly Kapowski (her and Christina Applegate as Kelly Bundy were my TV crushes in the 90s. Everyone else was second)
