Daytona is apparently setting up tire packs along the wall where Busch hit as a temporary fix for the 500. I imagine they'll try to have SAFER barriers fully installed by the July race

Kyle will probably be out a long time:
Marty Smith of ESPN: Statement from Joe Gibbs Racing Regarding Injury Status of Kyle Busch
Daytona Beach, Florida (Feb. 21, 2015) – Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 54 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), sustained a compound fracture of the right lower leg in an accident during Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Additionally, Busch suffered a mid-foot fracture of his left foot in the accident.
Busch was transported to a local hospital for treatment immediately following the accident and is currently undergoing surgery on his right leg. Busch’s injuries will sideline him for an undetermined period of time. Veteran Matt Crafton will serve as the interim driver for Busch’s No. 18 Toyota during Sunday’s 57th Daytona 500. An interim driver has not been determined for the following race March 1 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia, or for any future races.

Ugh, compound fractures are the worst. That's bone out through the skin.

Kurt Busch's final appeal was denied:
Kurt Busch second/final appeal denied. Suspension upheld, according to his attorney. Statement -->
We are unhappy with the latest decision to deny our re-appeal, but we will continue to exhaust every procedural and legal remedy we have available to us until Kurt Busch is vindicated. Along the way we intend to continue to call attention to the facts and witnesses that will shed light on Ms. Driscoll's true character, motivations and history.

Lousy weekend for both Busch brothers. Anybody else reminded of this wreck after seeing Kyle Busch's?

Busch's injuries make me mad as a motorsports fan. Why in the world does it take something like this before changes are made when the technology has been there for years? We are in 2015 and there is no excuse for drivers to hit concrete walls. I am not saying that a safer barrier would have prevented Kyle from getting hurt, it would have though reduced the chances.

Really wish they hadn't just deliberately compared the Chase format to WWE crossed with Housewives.
That's not gonna encourage the NASCAR haters or anything.

FAN, it is the Super Bowl of NASCAR. It is the Daytona 500. And it is the final ride for Jeff Gordon at the Great American Race. Can he take home the trophy one last time? It will all be decided in the next few hours.
But for right now, reach up and pull those belts tight ONE MORE TIME!!!!!!

Minor gripe: That Sprint ad that comes up on the leader board tricks me into thinking there's a caution every time.
