Even if Heroes didn't really fall of a cliff back in the day, it was still dubious to bring it back. Heroes stood out in a pre Arrow/MCU entertainment landscape where beyond something like Smallville, its premise was a novelty.
Now? In a world with the Flash, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Supergirl and so on, it just feels like a relic from a bygone period when we could only have superhero-esque shows rather than superhero shows. It would be like bringing up Xena as a straight drama when we have Game of Thrones.

I still have been watching it. I thought all along it was just a mini-series so was curious to see how it ends next week. I wouldn't have watched another season of it.

It would be like bringing up Xena as a straight drama when we have Game of Thrones. At least something like Xena would possess some qualities to set it apart from GoT, would it not? I really saw much of it back when it was on, but certain elements such as the basic setting, characters and the theme of female warriors front-and-center are definitely quite different from what GoT generally offers. That and GoT is just one show. No such luck for Heroes Reborn. When there's so many quality superhero shows on that each rely on different settings, themes, characters and the like, but all are based on established characters that prospective audiences are likely to already be familiar with, it was almost certain to get pushed to the back. That, and from what I saw, it wasn't good. I saw a single episode, didn't enjoy it at all, and checked out.

That finale fell pretty flat. Since the show was cancelled guess we're left with Sylar knocked up Claire with twins. She's dead and he's coming back to rule the World.
