Oh Heroes that TV show that pre-empted the superhero shows by a few years only to fall flat on its face due to writers strike and bad calls on various characters. But now we have a new series?? My main issue with heroes was they always concentrated on the really crap characters with lame powers who they kept bringing back and killed off or neutered the vaguely interesting ones. So thoughts on the return to Heroes land?

This is a show that really could work by adapting the old Sentai/Power Rangers format. New cast every year, but keep Bennet or another character around to maintain the link to the old.
Series one was perfect, but every character was played out by it's end to the point they had to reset most of them for the second and then they became uninteresting and in some cases unlikeable. Had that planned online spin-off been a thing and the strike not had occured, it should have been series two instead.

I'm gonna check it out. I liked the first run of Heroes. Yes, it had it's problems. The writers strike killed it big time as you mentioned. They had to totally redo everything after that happened.
It will be interesting to see how this new iteration goes. It is also like 24 where it is a mini-series type thing. It is getting 13 episodes. And the only returning character is HRG so far. They are not bringing back the cheerleader character as they have stated. That much I do know about it.

The writers strike is not what killed them it had its problems but season 2 was still okay. It went off a cliff in season 3 I could not make it past the second episode and I almost never give up on shows. People who continued watching it ans Season 4 said it just continued to get worse and more nonsensical. One late scenes I watched include two people in a room watching a painting get made and both of them being stunned when it was finished even though they both should have known what was being painted because they were looking right at the thing as it went on. The first season was good the second one was okay the third and fourth ones felt like they were written by a bunch of horrible fanfiction writers who all had different ideas of what the show should be about and what powers people should have.

But it kind of did. They had the whole second and third season planned out before the strike. The strike happened, the network made them rework everything to get at least a partial season that gave a conclusion of sorts to it. So they axed everything they were leading toward at the beginning of season 2 and rewrote it all. It may have worked out if the network had just skipped that year or let them go the route they were originally on.

This and new X-Files.... can't wait for Re-Lost..... Where did you hear this and when is it happening and are Duchovny and Anderson going to be back? A few short years ago, the rumors that Fox might be rebooting the The X-Files might have been dismissed as fanboy wishes. Sure, what’s next, Firefly? But we’re living in a post-Arrested Development/24/Veronica Mars/Twin Peaks reboot world and, if Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, Chris Carter, and Fox are all game, then I want to believe. Over the weekend, Fox confirmed that they were in the logistical phase of rebooting the series. That is to say, they were checking to make sure they could get all the original players back and available at the same time because, Fox promised, they’re not doing The X-Files without Mulder and Scully. But the big push to revive The X-Files didn’t come from Fox or even from the show’s creator, Chris Carter. It came from Scully herself, Gillian Anderson. Earlier this month on The Nerdist podcast, Anderson said she would be “f—ing overjoyed” to make more episodes of the show that jumpstarted her career. (Despite the fact that she’s currently starring in The Fall.) Anderson and hosts Chris Hardwick and Matt Mira encouraged listeners to tweet the hashtag #XFiles2015 and the response was overwhelming. We’ve reached an interesting age of crowdsourcing decision-making when a hashtag can bring 20-year-old TV series back from the dead. Then again, it’s not the first time the Internet has wielded such power. Many suspect that “leaked” test footage from a proposed Deadpool movie that circulated last year was actually a ploy on behalf of the film’s creators to generate the Internet buzz necessary to bring the project back to life. They succeeded, due in large part to overwhelming positive online support, and the film, starring Ryan Reynolds, will debut in 2016. So with a groundswell of internet support, and Anderson and Duchovny both on board, the only X-Files stumbling block left is Chris Carter. Though Fox confirms that Carter has expressed interest, they also said he “has a lot going on” and that they “would not move forward without Chris.” But it’s hard to imagine Carter, whose recent Amazon series, The After, failed to get off the ground, would hold out in the face of such overwhelming enthusiasm from fans and cast members. Duchovny told USA Today he’s “happy” and “excited” by the prospect of a series reboot and hinted at what we might expect, structure-wise. I’m assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We’ll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can’t nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We’re all old, we don’t have the energy for a full season. Whether or not it’s wise to re-visit The X-Files, even for a limited run, remains to be seen. The show has an undeniable cultural impact, having launched the career of Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan and influenced prolific show runners like Joss Whedon and Russell T. Davies. But, then again, The X-Files movies haven’t exactly added to the show’s legacy and some highly-anticipated reboots have been more successful than others. (We’re sadly looking at you, Arrested Development.) What do you think, will an X-Files reboot be worth it? Like I said up top, I want to believe. www.vanityfair.com/vf-hollywood/2015/01/x-files-reboot-anderson-duchovny-on-board

This show fell off a cliff when Bryan Fuller left. The season 1 finale was awful because of that, and outside of a brief period in season 3 (when surprise, Fuller was back for a tiny bit), the show kept going downhill. If the show is only Kring and no Fuller, which it will be, f*** it.
As for the X-Files reboot, mehhhh. Fringe capped off better than X-Files, and I'd rather Gillian stay with The Fall and Hannibal.

I still say if not for that crappy WGA Strike, Heroes would have righted itself and the rest of the series would have gone the way it did. Personally, I do think it righted itself with the Fugitives arc, as well as the fourth season but too many were put off by that disastrous Villains arc that went off the rails.
Of course, it didn't help that the show was partly run by known hack, a one Jeph Loeb. He's not involved in this reboot (thank goodness), so that already spells out good things from this. Here's hoping things go much better this time.
