I know most of us have been dreading this feud between Cena and Rusev. Everyone seems to resent that Rusev has been built up so strongly just for the sake of seemingly feeding all that momentum to Cena.
But I have to say that I'm enjoying it so far. What I like about this angle is that it isn't a "MURICA" feud like all of Rusev's past opponents. Rusev has been allowed to step away from the evil foreigner gimmick and just be a beast.
And for Cena, he's finally been given the chance to do something different. He's not in the title picture. Rusev isn't trying to goad him into compromising his morals. Cena isn't being marginalized as an avatar for "the system", and "if Rusev beats him maybe there's hope for the future" or some meta BS. And most importantly he's not headlining. I'm a huge Cena fan, but I believe that this is the perfect spot for Cena at the moment. If he stayed in this specific position on the card, where he isn't such an overshadowing presence, then I think more fans would turn around and react positively to him.

The program has been pretty good, but it really bothers me that the US title has been a non-factor in the feud. Especially when you consider how important the title was in John Cena's career.

I agree, I like Cena but I just always end up rooting for him to lose, since he's up against other guys I'd like to see with the belt. Rusev had a nice long run as an undefeated badass with the US title, if he loses it to Cena he should still have plenty of heat. And I think it feels less forced than the Cena/Wyatt feud.

I don't have and never had a problem with it, but I'm more of a Cena fan than a few which probably helps. I do not think Rusev will suffer if he loses, although I think it'll at least be a bunch smarter to schmozz it at Fast Line and do a bigger WrestleMania bout, and the match(es) should be real good.
Ditching the Komedy 'Lana is a ho' stuff would be a ton better, as would be getting a bit more shine on the US Title.

Rusev and Lana have worked hard on what was potentially a career-killing gimmick. I think they're both very special with bright futures, especially together. I'm more of a Cena defender than most but I'll be so angry if he destroys that.

It really hasn't registered with me yet. Cena's side of it is so generic I just feel nothing. They need to do something a little bigger, or dedicate an episode of Smackdown to it.

RAW was on the background while I was fiddling with my phone. I laughed out loud at Rusev's "You can't see me" line. It was the lone highlight of RAW, for me. I wasn't a Rusev fan prior to tonight, but I am now.

Cena's straight-up midcarding it in this feud. I don't recall him being in the opening or closing match/segment since before the Rumble.

This is Rusev, who so far has never been pinned clean or submitted, against his biggest opponent so far. It's a very special match. I think they do need to have a show go off the air with it before Fastlane, probably the Smackdown just before. I figure the match at the PPV will not be conclusive.

I'm digging it. Save for one joke, Cena's been taking it seriously. Crowd's eating it up.

I thought Cena's promo last night was tremendous, he had a lot of babyface fire.

It was kind of funny (in an outside-context sense) when Cena had to basically be "Hey, I know I just talked about poop again, but I'm serious. I mean it."
But I like when he stops acting like the underdog and becomes the condescending veteran who refuses to cede his spot, snarling and going all Bikertaker "THIS IS MY YARD".

I like the buildup, but will be sad when Cena wins clean at Mania. You know it's going to happen.

Since WWE loves to had SHOCKING moments lately, I hope to see Cena tapping AT WM That would be epic. I would be happy for Cena to win clean at the following PPV (extreme rules?) if he loses at Mania, especially via submission.

The program has been pretty good, but it really bothers me that the US title has been a non-factor in the feud. Especially when you consider how important the title was in John Cena's career. The biggest problem I would have if they focused a ton on the US Title and Cena's history with it is: The story would turn into about Cena trying to rebuild himself into the World Champion by winning back his old title on the way. Rusev would go from being his big WM feud into being looked at as a potential stepping stone for Cena. Then, if Rusev wins it focuses too much on Cena failing his ascension back towards the title and not enough on Rusev cementing himself as a main event superstar. It could be fixed with good writing, but...you know...

I kind of wish Cena would use that actual sentence in a promo one day. Honestly, Cena is both of those things. To me Cena's character has always been just this big jobber who scratched and clawed his way to the top and maintained his spot purely through force of will.

This does seem much better than I had expected. The US title being on the line is awesome, too.
