Of all the current character arcs, his is the worst. The E's avatars are hosses, but they are bitchifying Bull.
I get they want to push Corbin. I like Corbin. I thought the whole point of NXT was to give guys the same experiences they would need in the big leagues. How in the hell are either of those guys going to have a program if it's one-sided in developmental? This was the first hoss fight I've been interested in for a long time. They made it an extended squash...
I started getting behind Bull for many of the same reasons as many of you did. This company might actually be supporting a non traditional looking guy for a throwback role. Plus, he's not terrible...and more than just a good hand. He has good mic skills. I thought, "Great, they'll get a hoss battle, and I like these guys." Well...
We all know what happened. Bull gets one heel revenge tactic. Next match, Corbin goes over. Even during the promos, Bull was made to look weak.
Even when this company gets exactly what it wants, it self-inflicts sabotage.

This was my comment after he made his NXT debut:
He looks like he could have been a recurring jobber on WCW Saturday Night in 1995.

I always enjoy a Hoss character, but Bull is the absolute pits.
People like Rusev and Rowan weren't much at the start, but they really improved over time and were the highlight of WWE TV at one point, I never see Bull reaching that status ... or even the main roster. He's just a bland fat guy with a terrible name, gimmick and style.

We have Kevin Owens, we don't need Kevin Smith.

Bull's grown on me. He's a decent promo and aside from a few mis-steps he's never really been awful in the ring.
After his recent treatment though they definitely need to go back to the drawing board with this guy. Since Corbin thumped him over and over again he's in dire need of a repackaging. Hopefully that'll happen soon before he falls into CJ Parker territory.

Baron > Bull.
It's nice that WWE wants to support a "non traditional looking guy". BUT, as much as we fans want to criticize someone for having nothing going for them except for "a good look", it goes the other way around as well. Vince might push a guy just because he's a good looking guy with big muscles but with nothing else going for him; we're kinda doing the same thing by acting like Bull is good just because he ISN'T a good looking guy with big muscles.
Plus they have Kevin Owens, who has a similar look, but is miles ahead of him talent wise.

WWE/NXT wants to present Bull as a hoss, but he just doesn't have the size for it. They had him squashing Mojo, yet Mojo is bigger than him.

I always liked Rusev, but he had a lot of refining to do with the whole look and his gimmick and his ring work. Luckily he improved exponentially and Lana is the perfect act to go with him. His match with Ziggler was okay, but mainly consisted of Rusev rest holds which showed how limited he was. He's much better now after almost a year on the main roster and working with the likes of Sheamus and Swagger and Ziggler and now, John Cena.

He has the Orlando Rage logo on his singlet. So that's a positive.

Bull's a good low midcard heel on the main roster. That's his ceiling, and that's fine with me.
There need to be career-heels these days, people that won't eventually get over by being cool and awesome. I don't ever see Bull Dempsey getting a groundswell of support after he shows a ton of charisma/promise in his losses to R-Truth or whoever.

WWE/NXT wants to present Bull as a hoss, but he just doesn't have the size for it. They had him squashing Mojo, yet Mojo is bigger than him. Joe Pesci made a living for years being a tough guy, and Taz of course, while being short. The size doesn't really bug me. I feel like he'd do well in a tag team with someone against like, like a pretty boy flyer or no-nonsense technical dude. I don't really dislike the guy, but I feel he's been a little misused.

I think we're only a few weeks away from seeing Bull work a program with El Torito.

Taz wasn't a wannabe hoss wrestler doing power moves. His gimmick was a shoot fighter who did suplexes and submissions. Hell, if Bull was presented like Taz and wrestled like Taz, it would be more believable.

Hell, if Bull was presented like Taz and wrestled like Taz, it would be an improvement. He was trained by him, if I recall, so maybe he could start doing the Tazmission or something. Couldn't hurt, and it's smarter than him doing a diving headbutt sometimes.

I'm waiting for the crowd to start consistently chant "SHIT" in time with his music.
