I just heard Kodak Black on the Cardi B remix, and I came to a realization. Let's say hip-hop is like wrestling. You have Jay-Z, who would be like the John Cena of rap now. An established vet and top draw, with outside ventures and they pay attention to new talent. Then you have Kendrick, who I feel is the Kazuchika Okada of rap. They're both on these critically acclaimed and commercially successful runs, and they're well-rounded talents who are arguably the best in the game. Kodak is the Enzo of hip-hop now. They get attention for their charisma and being wild, but they're immature and their work itself is hella sloppy. Facts. Kodak is def another Enzo. Migos is def the Usos tho with how they handle their shit proper and staying consistent while keeping their shit on track

Three charismatic heels with flashy movesets. Quavo's Kenny, Offset's Matt and Takeoff is Nick. Also hip-hop/wrestling related: (language)

Both Post and 21 have really impressed me lately and seem to have found their lanes. Especially 21, he reminds me of a modern version of Mobb Deep.

Cardi B is the first solo female rapper to top the charts since Lauryn Hill in 1998. That's an incredible accomplishment

Aye man, this new KRIT album is JAMMING So happy for dude. He finally got to make the project that he wanted and was able to show how badly Def Jam mismanaged him.

The highlight of that KRIT album might be the return of Goodie Mob era Cee-Lo...

Has anyone checked out any of Mach Hommy's stuff. I mentioned him once. He's affiliated with Conway and Westsude Gunn who signed to Shadey Aftermath. Like most crews, there is some tension between some of the artist on Griselda Records unfortunately.
Also. That new Dipset though
Evidence put something out.

Unlike a lot of people, I have grown to tolerate and maybe even enjoy some of the current rap. I think one of the factors is that I own the soundtracks to Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious. I have grown to like G-Eazy.
Anyway, for my hip-hop blog, I have contemplated doing my Lost Boyz marathon, but also doing reviews of both Man With The Iron Fists films. At least by the end of the month, when I will do a Christmas special in December.

Genius News featured a Kendrick interview where he talked about an early song he did that was "terrible".
Is it, though? This is from one of his early mixtapes, and you can hear a strong Weezy influence. But I dunno, this is kinda hot:

They're not elite-tier MCs by any means, but it's not like they're....Rodney Dangerfield-level bad, y'know?

So, I wanted to resurrect this thread. Who's everyone currently banging right now?
As of now Trippie Redd has been winning me over. Him and Lil Uzi are two guys in the "SoundCloud era" I dig. Tekashi doesn't do much for me, he screams too much and he comes off like an edgy try hard.
But the first two are ace. Ski Mask has some hard stuff, and anything Kendrick, Migos, Nicki, 21, Young Thug, Chance, Vince Staples and Travis Scott I'm all over. Joyner Lucas also has some intense, smart songs.
