Is AJ one of the worst female face characters of all time?

If you could somehow take the entire year of 2012 out of the equation people wouldn't hate AJ as much. She was so obscenely overpushed at that point that it just burned some people out on her for life. There's also a line of thought that she is somehow a talented wrestler despite there being zero actual evidence of it being the case. Add in she doesn't seem like she could hurt a 3 year old with her tiny physique and she's the female X-Pac.

All great points, especially on her being shoved down all of our throats in 2012. Another problem, at least with me, is the fact that she just sort of came back as a face after pretty much burying the entire Divas division. No real retribution, never really got hers, so to speak. I mean, for all of the shit Triple H gets for the Reign of Terror (all of it deserved), he took some real Ls to Chris Benoit and Batista.

Zero evidence might be pushing just a tad. It's ultimately subjective.

This is one of the biggest things about her that bothers me. She looks like a strong wind could snap her in half, yet they portray her as some big scary badass. I hate seeing the divas, divas who are much bigger than her, run in fear like she is Brock Lesnar coming to wreck shit. I know part of it is cowardly heelism, but come on.

Since WWE seems to be encouraging her to play the "CM Lee" role, I'm half expecting that on the night that Hideo was finally going to break out the GTS, they tell him that he can't do it, because AJ's going to start using it.

Her mic work is still the best they (divas division) have. Unless you count Stephanie, which in the division itself, I don't. The crowd still loves her, no matter what she does, and there's no way you can say she's a terrible face when she's got the majority of the audience behind her. Seriously, Total Divas has a lot to answer for with how it's muddied kayfabe, particularly in the division it bares the name of. In 2013 you had AJ and Brie feuding and Bryan was never once mentioned, even though Bryan himself literally just broken up from a tag team he was forced into BY AJ for being a bad boyfriend to her. You could invalidate nearly every wrestling gimmick with continuity though, I don't see that as a reason why it doesn't work.

That's the thing with all this, there's loads of unlikeable faces in WWE, there's loads of people who've turned face without retribution for the bad stuff they did as a heel, there's loads of people who have major continuity flaws in their character. Daniel Bryan never apologised for all the dastardly shit he did as a heel, although Team Hell No did act as a little bit of a retribution arc. A lot of people just single AJ out for it cos they plain don't like her anyway regardless of what she does.

There was a quick, noticeable difference in their feud after Paige threw AJ off the stage and it never really recovered from that shift.

I think a major death blow for this feud came with their first PPV match. The build to that match was that they were 2 girls who were playing up being friendly rivals but you could tell they didn't trust each other. They should have had a fairly even match until one of them, ideally Paige in a heel turn, would do something underhanded to win. Instead we got a very weird match that didn't at all jive with the story leading into it.

I do feel she's become the female Cena. She has nowhere to go creatively and her with the title is now passe. Much like Cena she's also shown no character evolution. She's the same character and it's just not interesting anymore. Just for an example, look at the evolution of Paige in just her first year. She comes in as a timid, underdog rookie face, became a heel with pseudo lesbian undertones, to a tweener-face with a "I'm going to kick your ass" mentality. That's in less than 1 year on the roster. It's that kind of progression that has fans on her side now. Compare that to AJ who is Cm Punk-lite and it's not interesting anymore. AJ's done all she can in her career so really what's there left to do? All I feel she does is cast a shadow over the rest of the division that feels more like a black hole at times.

AJ doesn't look like a 13 year old girl. She looks like a woman with a small frame. Which is what she is.

Maybe if she had giant bolted on tits she'd look more like a woman to you....
