Dude is one of my all time favorites but this became clear to me tonight while watching the main event. He was a good two or three steps behind Lashley the entire match. He's obsessed with performing at a certain high level while wrestling but I'm just not sure he can physically do it at this stage in his career.
He's not gonna have horrible matches but he really should not be competing this high on the card at this point. He's just gonna hurt himself again trying to desperately live up to his own standards.

I wasn't really liking him the last few years when he could still go, physically. I found his matches repetitive, robotic, and dull. Now, we can take away the robotic part, and substitute pitiful.

I'm half expecting him to keel over at any second.
That's the reason why WWE won't touch him with a 39 and a half foot pole. Everyone knows he's one bad landing or move away from a Misawa incident happening again. But he's either too stubborn or too stupid to realize that his body has given out on him and can no longer go. The fact that TNA is regulary letting him compete is disgusting as I doubt if they had any doctors and medical professionals on hand they would not let him go out there.

He's looked it to me for a few years now but I always heard he was injured or just needed time off, well tonight showed it has only gotten worse. Listen, there is no shame in being a step behind a physical freak like Lashley but Angle is 3 or 4 behind him. There was the final Angle Slam spot where Angle ducks Lashley and is supposed to turn around and hit him with the Slam but he cannot do it. Lashley stood still in the ropes for what seems 10 or 15 seconds while Angle tried to find him and hit the move. It is sad.
Never been a huge fan of the guy but seeing anyone deteriorate like Angle has is sad and he knows it which makes it worse. He know WWE won't touch him as long as he plans on wrestling. They flat out called his bluff by offering a full time wrestler deal or nothing. Angle knows that he cannot turn to the indies because he cannot keep up with an ROH, PWG, or Japan. One match with them would kill him (quite possibly literally). All he has is TNA and this idea that he can get acting roles as well. Ego, optimism, stupidity, a sense of loyalty or whatever it is that is keeping him in the ring needs to be talked out of him by the ones that care about him. Don't let him around Dixie or any of the TNA officials, we've seen how that works out. Keep him away from the boys in the back, it will just drive his competitive spirit. And for the love of God stop showing him Brock and Davey Richards matches.

I noticed how slow he looked on the first Impact on Destination America when he was chain wrestling MVP. Angle's a step slower, and I think it has everything to do with that knee.

I thought Impact was good tonight but the ending just no. Why do you build Lashley as this unstoppable destroyer only to have Angle make him tap? Someone could've really benefited from a rub like that. They should've given it to EC3 because Angle surely didn't need or deserve it at this stage of his career.

A company that focuses on the aging old WWE stars instead of the stars that could make them money for the next 5-6 years.

He needs to adapt his style around it if he intends to keep going.
Granted, I hope he doesn't go the HBK route he had in the last few years of his career and go heavy on chops. Shawn had some of his best matches at the end of his career, but lord almighty, did he loooove knife-edged chops. You don't need like 59 of those per match.

He can certainly still "go", it's just no where near the level he used to be and I don't think he can accept it. He's always been of the mind that he can push himself beyond his bodies limits and keep going. Sadly, it's catching up to him in 2015 and you can see he just can't do it any more. It's just depressing to watch.
Kurt is one of my all-time favourites. His body of work is some of the most impressive in the history of wrestling. But I can't stomach seeing him go out there and try to keep up with guys who are obviously having to slow down their own work just so he can keep up with them - I don't want that to be my memory of Kurt Angle.
He needs to retire and go into the WWE hall of fame, while maybe making a few short appearances just to ankle lock someone to a massive pop. I would love some backstage skits with him and Edge and Christian again ... you can't tell me that wouldn't be hilarious. Much better than watching broken down Kurt Angle dragging his body through a 20-minute match with a much superior athlete: Bobby Lashley.

I just think they need to slowly phase him out of the main event scene and have him team up with someone and work in the tag division. That way you get to keep Angle around as a "star" and help get young guys over whilst keeping him safe and allowing him to be involved. Everybody wins.
EDIT:
Angle and The Wolves seems like a no brainer to me. Six man tag team matches leading to matches like Angle and The Wolves Vs The Revolution or Angle and The Wolves Vs The BDC. Even matches against the Bromans could be fun as filler on Impact.
If Magnus hadn't been ruined already he'd be a fantastic option for an Angle pairing. Gunner could probably benefit as well.

Since Angle becoming champ was apparently the request of Destination America, I get the feeling the next number one contender to face Angle will be Bigfoot.

Did DA really request Angle to be champion or is that just speculation? That seems incredibly pointless since Angle's star has long faded and his body has deteriorated before our eyes. As long as you never let him talk, Bobby Lashley is exactly the type of guy (especially in today's wrestling world) that you want to build around. He looks like an MMA fighter. Great body, athletic, legit athlete, looks like a bad ass, etc. He's TNA's answer to Brock, and they just sacrificed him because a 2nd rate TV station wants a gold medalist from 20 years ago to hold the world title. Crazy.

Because they have AMERICA in their network name, they felt that it would be a good idea to have a Olympic Gold Medalist as their top champion and face of the brand.

It is a strange bit of branding the DA folks like. Having an AMERICAN Olympic gold medalist as the champion of Destination AMERICA'S wrestling show is supposed to be some great bit of branding and promotions.

That means if Hogan was still in TNA, he would have beaten Lashley for the title. While "American Made" played in the background. I like Lashley, but as a lifelong Hulkamaniac, I would have marked for that.

Kurt is still good enough that he will not have Khoya-type performances anytime soon but, I don't know if he has it in him to perform on a regular basis as champion anymore.

Kurt should take a deep look at the tragedy of Perro Aguayo Jr. What happened last night could easily be him soon I'm afraid.
