I gotta say that was exactly what I expected. It felt like another pilot that was a massive step back from how much the Muppets has improved over the season.
It was also trying way too hard. I mean there was a goddamn Miley Cyrus twerking joke in 2016.

I mean there was a goddamn Miley Cyrus twerking joke in 2016. But I'm sure the people who said the show was "too adult" before and that they turned all the Muppets into jerkasses will be happy. I did enjoy it all the same though, but in ways it seemed like a big apology to people expecting The Muppet Show. Not that something not unlike TMS is a bad thing either. And I kind of took the whole Piggy thing as a parody of what's hip, Miley was there most obviously, with a bit of Lady Gaga. So maybe it was meant to make her, ironically, look out of touch? But really, which sitcom(s) are totally up to speed on pop culture? Besides South Park?

Off-topic, but Martha Plimpton has a new sitcom! That makes me very, VERY happy.

I was gonna watch it, but I missed out, so I'm gonna have to wait until next week to see the new episode and the new format.
Hopefully they won't be trying any Fozzie-heavy episodes for a while.

This doesn't feel like a new format to me at all. Am I missing something?

This doesn't feel like a new format to me at all. Am I missing something? It very, very subtle but it's there. Lucy, the network head is there to be the main villain of the story, so Miss Piggy can start toning down her diva antics. There's been less The Office cut away jokes and more comedy bits. it looks like Kermit and Miss Piggy are reconnecting. Remeber there were never going to be a lot of major changes because a fair amount of the season was already filmed. Major reshooting would have eaten away at the budget.

And for what it said in the article about the "reboot" I still see lots of Chip. If anything, though, there's been less Swedish Chef, which makes me madder.

Personally, I found this to be a pretty weak episode, overall. I do find the addition of Lucy to be a rather useless addition, because sitcoms don't really need antagonists (because writers usually fall in love with them because it's the one medium where you can get away with the bad guys always winning), though I get the idea of having an obnoxious network executive as an additional layer of making a TV show.

Agreed. It was really bad. I watched via CC, so I heard nothing. Who is doing Jerry Nelson's characters now?

Robin sounded a bit like the CPU nerd.

We asked 6 people what their favorite ice cream was. Hint; you were the 6 people we asked.
