My personal opinion is "no". I mean I get that its meat in between bread but there's only one piece of bread (or a bun), just split.
But then in that case I guess Subway sandwiches wouldn't be sandwiches either... uugh....
HELP ME.

I'll probably be in the minority, but I'm giving it a "yes" vote.

I have yet to see a valid argument for how it's not a sandwich.

In the UK the only thing that traditionally counts as a 'real' sandwich is two pieces of bread sliced from a traditional loaf. A submarine sandwich is called a roll, food served in a baguette is called a baguette, hot food served between a split round bun is called a burger, while cold food served in a rounded roll is also called a roll. A hot dog is just a hot dog.
Given that the U.S. has a far looser definition of what is a sandwich I'd say a hot dog would count as a sandwich variation, alongside subs, burgers, po boys, etc.

No matter what logical argument I hear that supports the fact it's a sandwich. I still think it's straight up bullshit. It's unnatural to call it a sandwich. It makes no sense. What's next you're going to tell me pie's are sandwiches?

This is a head scratcher since the definition of sandwich is kind of vague. I mean, you have sandwiches like egg salad, but would you consider a hamburger a sandwich. And what of the patty melt? Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Yes, because a sandwich is anything placed on or between bread.

Yes, because a sandwich is anything placed on or between bread. This is soup in a bread bowl, from a delicious Reykjavik place called Svarta Kaffi. The soup is placed on the bread, so is that a sandwich?

I say no....I don't know why, but I don't want a hotdog to count as a sandwich. It makes the hotdog less somehow.

Yes, because a sandwich is anything placed on or between bread. ... that's meant to be lifted by your hands to your mouth to be eaten. So yes, it is a sandwich. Same with the burgers.

No. A sandwich is something between two bits of bread. In a hot dog, the something is in the same bit of bread.
I'm embarrassed by how much time I've just spent thinking about this.

It's not a sandwich for the same reason a taco and a pizza folded over are not sandwiches. There's a bread component, but that does not a sandwich make.

I don't consider it one, because sandwiches have two horizontal pieces of bread. If a hot dog counts, then I don't see why tacos, corn dogs, jelly donuts, or sushi couldn't also be argued as sandwiches, since they'd also meet the hand-held grain-encased foods.
