Have to defend Vince on commentary. He's terrible but his overselling is completely justified. He has everything at stake, it's completely reasonable that he'd hype everything as much as possible. I didn't like him but he was good in the sense that he put over everything the TV audience needed to know during a big angle/match. All because he wrote the shit so he knew where the story lines were going.

Honorable mention to JR's overly enthusiastic "TWIST OF FATE!" call when Jeff Hardy was actually doing the Whisper in the Wind. He was so pumped that Jeff is hitting this big, flashy move...but constantly calling it the wrong daggone name. Good call, that irritated the heck out of me. He called it "Poetry In Motion" once, and that was a different move, too.

Okay, who here was annoyed by Jerry Lawler's excitement over "puppies"? I will admit that I didn't mind it at first, because I was a youngster at the time, but after a while, it got annoying.

Getting away from wrestling, in UFC Joe Rogan will scream it's over, over and over again when the dude is on his feet still fighting back or say he's hurt when he's walking around just fine.

Honestly, most of the calls and mannerisms I remember from commentary are from Vince. Guy knew how to sell a show, man. In no way, shape or form was he "one of the worst ever."

It's a guilty pleasure of mine but I can understand why people dislike listening to Joe Rogan go "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" every time a fighter lands a solid hit on an opponent. It's as if the commentator usually seen as the fight savvy "expert" suddenly forgets that he's meant to sound smart and loses his mind.

I love his enthusiasm it just gets grating when you see a leg kick and he loses his shit. Same way I turn the tv to another channel when him and Dana are screaming at me through my tv screen for that hard sale of the PPV.

Then Mike Goldberg will come out of left field with something that has nothing to do with anything. I'll never forget his interesting point from UFC 100 on why Alan Belcher is such a talented fighter: "He always wears really cool shorts."

He pisses me off, at this point he's coasting through paychecks. Makes you wonder how he got the NFL job in the first place. Right now UFC best team to me is Anik and Stann.

In fairness, my opinion comes as much from what I consider to be cheeseball calls of the matches as from that incredibly strange fake, throaty voice he does.

It's pretty much Joey's award to have, ain't it?
As over the top as he was, is there anything wrong with that in the end? He put the match over. They don't even hardly talk about the damn things these days. They're just segues that link twenty minute promo segments together.
I'd also like to nominate Tenay. He used to kill me with how indignant he got when a heel did some kind of heel thing. You half expected him to hop over the booth and go get him some.

I loved when Vampiro ran around the ring in shock at Angelico's dive off the office.
