They could have done it this way. 1- The kid is in the front row. 2- Cena goes out to give him a hug and a high five 3- He takes the sign and brings it into the ring 4- He says something like "see, this is what's it's all about. Not your bitterness and jealousy", then hands the sign to Owen 5- Owen looks at it sadly.... This is good until that point. Here's how I manipulate it. 5 - ... Owens says "You know, I have two kids, and if this happened to them, I wish they'd fight as hard as this girl does. And that's the point, John. I'd want them to fight and win, like I know she fights and will win. Not dress up like you and believe in Super Cena. Fight and win. That's all there is to it, John. Fight and win. Because I don't want my kids to dress in pretty colors. I want them to live. Survive. Beat Cancer. Fight and win. But what would you know about kids? You're not man enough to have any!" 6 - Shit's on!

It would set him up as the guy who does it all for his wife and kids, but with enough of a dig at Cena to really get stuff going.

I wonder if Owens wil get into shit for his reaction. To me he basically seemed to be reacting "really? you're promoting yourself by using cancer kids?", which I don't think they'll be pleased about considering they've been surfing on Connor Michalek's story for over a year.

I don't get how saying Cena doesn't want kids is some kind of insult. It would be a weird avenue to take honestly.

That's where the less of a man thing came from in my view. Owens scored a big clean win but still found something to complain about and whine. Dunno what having or wanting kids has to do with being a man.

Dunno what having or wanting kids has to do with being a man. Culturally sexual virility has been long associated with masculine power. As for Owens, he expressed disdain for his own child A- being a fan of someone he considers to be overly commercialised and manufactured, and B- being concerned over Cena's well being even when their own father had beaten him. "You're not a real man" is a strange retort to that. WWE could have scripted any number of responses that would have made more sense.

I actually loved that Owens went out of his way to say "He's a kid, he's a kid" when the fans started booing his son for cheering Cena.
Cena came thisclose to saving that promo with the "Never giving up" applying to Owens, then ruined it with the "real man" bullcrap.

When Owens accused Cena of being part of the corporate machine, Cena could have said something like "hey bro, unless you're giving away your "KO" t-shirts for free, you're part of that machine too, pal" and it would have been perfectly reasonable.

Owens; "I bet Nikki stays up all night wishing that she had a real man" Only if he slowly gyrates his hips the whole time after he's said this.
