It's been said a number of times on here that Rusev really gets and understands the business, which often comes through in the character development
But who else really gets it, follows it and understands it?
Bray Wyatt? He seems to put everything into his character and his performances, and as a second generation wrestler probably already knows the business inside out
Who else is there?

Rusev for sure is there. He knows WWE follows and posts their social media comments on RAW, so what does he do? Say his foot is in bad shape because of "Stupid American doctors". The guy is tremendous.
Another great one is Kevin Owens. He doesn't just wrestle matches and go through the motions, he antagonizes the crowd and really gets them wanting to see him get his ass kicked. That's a lost art these days.

On the ladies side, I used to think it was AJ. Paige has been around long to, but even for her it's not clearly there.
But Sasha Banks? She gets it.

I feel like Cody Rhodes does. That's another guy who really does. Ever since Dashing Cody Rhodes, he's taken every single character thrown at him and made it unique and natural.

Does... does this just mean that a person is a good actor and is often in character? Because that doesn't really have anything to do with wrestling in particular.

I was thinking about the same thing last night.
In particular, I'd say Rusev, Owens, Big Show, Rhodes, Ambrose, Slater, Sasha.

- Dean Ambrose (he gets it completely, hell he's so in tune with it that's one of the reasons he doesn't do social media, you shouldn't know what Dean Ambrose the character is thinking at random times during the day) - Cody Rhodes (Dashing was great but to me the moment he turned disfigured is when things clicked for him and he's been amazing ever sinse) - Sasha Banks (you know) - Bray Wyatt - Kevin Owens - Kane - Big Show - Daniel Bryan - Steve Austin - Undertaker
These guys just "get it" and it's great to see them when they're out there. They're just different types compared to others. Sure, many people can wrestle better but it doesn't mean they get it better. Big Show made a great point on an interview he did years ago. He said he's a big tall lumbering giant, he moves slow but when he accelerates his offense he's not slow. Why? Because that's how giants are depicted, big and lumbering so that's how he acts but when it's time for offense? He goes in. He's that way so the opponent can create a comeback and when they finally knock the giant down it gets a huge reaction. That style is something only someone who gets the business would get. He knows his character.
Oh, another great example is Razor Ramon. He got the business.

A lot of wrestlers could learn from Terry Funk. Heel or face, dude was great with the little stuff.

Rosa Mendes
This is a backwards carny business. Taking certain less than ethical shortcuts with certain less than honorable bookers leads to lasting employment. This is a rule of the business, just not a proud one.
