There's a Hip-Hop thread that's several pages long. I figured a Metal thread where we can repost song/albums, news, or just have a general discussion could go over well. So, yeah, let's have at it. Anyways, I've had this song stuck in my head most of the day:
Man, that part from 5:26 to the end of the song is just unreal. So f***ing awesome.

alrighty, I'll bite. I've been a metalhead since I was old enough to care about music. Death is my favorite band. these days I tend to isten to a lot of the newer tech-death bands that were influenced by Death, especially the more proggy ones (like Decrepit Birth and Augury). I also listen to a lot of doom metal (really into classic death-doom bands like Paradise Lost and funeral doom bands like Shape of Despair). I'm starting to check out more of the out there post-metal bands like Isis, and the post-black metal bands like Agalloch and Wolves in the Throne Room. I really dig that stuff. I'm also really into the creepy dissonant black metal bands like Deathspell Omega. for the longest time I could never get into it; I recognized it was good music, it just didn't grab me. then one day it did. it was mostly this album:
and Deathcore can go rot.

Eh, as far as deathcore it depends on the band. Only one I unequivocally like is The Browning, and they're more electro-core.

Deathspell Omega is awesome. Anyways, since you mentioned Death, have you heard Gruesome's new album? If you didn't know what Gruesome is, it's Matt Harvey(from Exhumed)'s side project with members of Possessed and Malevolent Creation. It's practically a Death tribute band, but f***ing A if they're not awesome: NSFW due to gore

Here is my recommendation for the day. Mammoth Mammoth. A group out of Australia who play a really ballsy, groovy, stoner style. They also have a new album out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlb-Ue3dB8o*Do Not Embed videos that feature imagery that breaks forum rules regarding nudity* ~ Tyger

Check out this band. Very underrated along with brutal, tight, melodic, and complicated guitar work that also includes one of the guitarists being classically trained as well.
Inhuman vocals that compliments the destructive sound of the drums and bass as well.
Overall a great band that deserves more recognition.

Always thought this this band is underappreciated. One of the best Australian bands of the early/mid 90s IMO.
Also, I'm gonna go see Bolt Thrower this September. I am pretty excited because they rarely come down this way.

I thought I knew what grindcore was before I heard IW, but they blew(and still) blow my mind. It sucks that they broke up 6 years ago in a fashion reminiscent of the Sex Pistols:

My contribution, Danish Power Metal band Battle Beast's best song(s), warning: there is an AMV using this song set to the anime it's based on (Beserk) but it features a graphic rape so watch at your own risk.

and here's another slice of brilliance for the day. I couldn't get into these guys for the longest time for whatever reason, and then I heard this song and I was hooked. epic post-black metal with strong environmental messages. not necessarily for people who feel black metal peaked with Mayhem's first full-length, but these guys are taking those old dynamics and doing something new and special with it. great choice for long car rides!

Definitely Ripper Owens' finest work....the entire album is great from start to finish.

Some classical music mixed with some metal is always nice.

Another underrated band. I really thought they were going to be up there with Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, and Trivium as bands who managed to become pretty popular despite being in the metal genre.
They broke up temporarily after their second album and are currently reunited. A truly great and talented band of superb musicians.
