THEY’RE BACK!
Feels like “We Are Not Your Kind” just came out yesterday.

Meh… it’s the definition of an album that exists. Reading around it kind of sounds like they just hammered it out to get their final record on their Roadrunner deal out of the way. Kinda comes off that way.
Oh well.

The Dying Song also grew on me so to hear it's pretty skippable is a bummer.

Man I thought “Adderall” was pretty great then it turned into another boring Slipknot album. Can’t say I’ve cared for much of their stuff since All Hope Is Gone. “Medicine for the Dead” and “Finale” were pretty good too.

Only discovered this thread a few weeks back so don't know how much of a metalcore base we have here but regardless Make Them Suffer dropped their new song a few days back and it f***ing slaps (in my opinion, of course). Well worth a listen if this scene is your jam:

I’ve listened to it a few more times and it is growing on me but there are some stinkers on it that I’m baffled made the cut. Hive Mind, The Dying Song, De Sade & Yen are great though

Wormrot might have a new challenger for album of the year (also, a man screaming into a microphone with flowers growing out of it may just be the most blackened shoegaze thing ever)

So what are everyone's top 5 metal albums of the year? Admittedly, I feel like this was a pretty boring/disappointing year for metal.
My list (in order) would look something like this:
5. Lamb of God - Omens 4. Imperial Triumphant - Spirit of Ecstasy 3. Abbath - Dread Reaver 2. Behemoth - Opvs Contra Natvram 1. Darkthrone - Astral Fortress (You can ALWAYS count on Darkthrone.)

There’s a lot of albums I liked but nothing I out-write loved I guess. 5. Undeath - It’s Time…To Rise From The Grave 4. Cave In - Heavy Pendulum 3. Sigh - Shiki 2. Ghost - Impera 1. Voivod - Synchro Anarchy Honourable mentions for Rammstein, Meshuggah, Wormrot, Megadeth, Dark Funeral, Conjurer, Saxon, Venom Prison, Kreator, Autopsy, Lamb Of God, Blind Guardian, Zeal & Ardor, Wilderun, Midnight & Architects (shocked I liked that album after being very meh on the last two)

From what I heard of the debut of Matt Heafy's Ibaraki project, that album deserves some serious love. Haven't gotten around to listening to Bleed The Future by Archspire yet but I should considering how much I LOVED Relentless Mutation. Oh, and Septicflesh's new album burns too.
