This may be one of the greatest music videos I've ever seen.

Ralph Santolla (Deicide, Obituary), passed away last week of a heart attack.
Little known fact: he did lead guitars on "American Made," Hogan's WCW pre-NWO theme.

That was a great album. Ralph Santolla (Deicide, Obituary), passed away last week of a heart attack. Little known fact: he did lead guitars on "American Made," Hogan's WCW pre-NWO theme. He seemed like a really cool guy. Any time I saw any of his bands live he was always walking around on the floor just being a regular guy checking out the support acts.

f4.bcbits.com/img/a0301000739_16.jpg (the cover may be a bit much) Weregoat - Slave Bitch Of The Black Ram Master (2013)Weregoat have been a real game-changer for me in 2018. Despite not releasing a new album or touring anywhere near me they've reinvigorated an obsession with the dankest of death metal. Death metal that's pretty much what people joke around and make fun of death metal for. Goats, satan, blood, pornography; all forms of debauchery. This is their debut EP from 2013 and it's almost perfect. There's only four songs and it clocks in at less than seventeen minutes but it's something great to listen to over and over and leaves you wanting more. Which I guess is my only real problem with the album: I want more. But there is more Weregoat out there and it's not hard to find. It's relatively cheap so if you're not sure you're ready for Weregoat it's not much of an investment. I guess I really didn't care for the cover of Bathorys Necromansy at the end either. I didn't read the liner notes but as soon as it started I knew it was a cover because it doesn't sound at all like a Weregoat song. Then I realized that I knew the song. But every band does a cover on their debut EP and I've heard way worse. Weregoat are a band to watch out for. I love them. 9/10

Inferi - Revenant (2018)I had a really weird reason for buying this album. I read a pretty bad review on another blog and for whatever reason it made me want to buy it. I think I maybe sampled five seconds of a song to make sure it wasn't something I'd totally hate and it wasn't. And I was really drawn to the cover artwork. I've been playing through the Dragon Age games lately and it reminded me of something from that. Ultimately the cover artwork is the coolest thing about this album. It's not bad though, it's just sort of "there". So, to the music. The best way I can describe this is if Dimmu Borgir and the Black Dahlia Murder had a baby. It's clean, crisp death metal with some theatrical tendencies. I compare it even more to Abigail Williams' first EP 'Legend' but no one remembers that so the Dimmu Borgir/Black Dahlia Murder comparison is the best one to go with. Trevor Strnad even makes a guest appearance on the last song. The bad review I first read was critical of the over abundance of long, drawn out intros and I do agree with that. I'd even take it one step further that overall the album is just way too long. Almost an hour is way too much of this. Had some of those intros been cut, maybe a song or two shortened and this ended up thirty-five or forty minutes it would've been much easier and held my attention longer. It's something I'm going to throw on my computer now amongst thousands of other songs and albums and if this comes up on random I may even skip it to something else I like better. I didn't hate it as much as I do a lot of modern metal but I didn't love it like I wanted to. 6.5/10 (the bad review gave it a 3/10)
