I heard about it and haven't seen the performance. What actually happened? Also a big congratulations to Megadeth for winning their first Grammy for Best Metal Performance with Dystopia. It was just a total shit show. - It started with Metallica not even being introduced. The performance was introduced with RuPaul saying something like, "8 time Grammy winners and Lady Gaga!" They were never properly introduced and it was as if Lady Gaga was the focus. She was singing a Metallica song with Metallica, but she's the focus? - Song starts. Metallica sound great. Lady Gaga and the 'moshers' onstage look very, very cheesy. It screamed "phony". - James starts to sing the first verse... Nothing. Lady Gaga comes in and her microphone is fine. Cut back to James, still nothing. - James' mic FINALLY kinda/sorta works. Then it doesn't again. During all of this, he has to awkwardly share a mic with Gaga during the chorus while she's (seemingly) trying her best to sing over him. - He gets pissed and knocks over the mic stand right before the solo. Someone stands it up. He knocks it back down at the end of the song. Then he throws his guitar offstage and is clearly pissed. To sum it all up, I think they were disrespectful as hell to Metallica, but that's nothing new for the Grammys. Not to mention that Lady Gaga just looked awkward/completely out of place and I personally didn't think her vocals worked well with the song. Yes, I just watched it last night and wow, that was pretty bad and you could tell James was absolutely livid with the experience. Lady Gaga would've been fine if it was a different song and she actually utilized her vocals rather than trying to outsing James. I think something like "Nothing Else Matters", "Unforgiven", or "Fade To Black" would've been better suited for her as a duet rather than "Moth Into Flame." I get what they were attempting to go for as a whole, however, the obvious mishaps just turned it into a major crap show to the point that I don't think anything could've saved it.

Not sure if he'd still (or if he ever was?) considered 'metal', but does anyone know what's up with the new Marilyn Manson album? It was supposed to be released today, but there's nothing. No artwork, no single, no track listing, nothing. The only thing they released about it was the short clip of "Say10" that came out a few months back (And actually sounded pretty interesting).

I don't think I've ever asked this question in this thread before. What was the one album that literally scared you? By scaring you I mean frightening you to the point that you felt guilty and afraid to even look at the case, let alone listen to it.
For me it will always be Vital Remains "Dechristianize" album. I remember hearing about the lyrics and how blasphemous they were that I didn't think anything about it. In my mind I was thinking it couldn't be any worse than Mercyful Fate's "The Oath" or a Cradle of Filth album. First time I listened to the song "Dechristianize" I became frightened and thought I was doing something wrong. To this very day while I still own the album, I usually skip to the solos, and even then that's pushing it sometimes.

I can't think of one specific album but there's several bands when I was getting into the more extreme side of metal that scared me but then I got it later on. Emperor, Cradle Of Filth, Converge, Decapitated & Akercocke are the one's that come to mind for me.

There's a reason it's warned to NEVER listen to it at night. I did, and even though the album is less than half an hour long, the chaotic mix of avant-garde jazz and grindcore mixed with the most horrifying vocals (if you can even call them that) make it feel many times that. And midway through I was begging for it to end. That distressing. And the crazy thing is that a lot of John Zorn's avant-garde jazz compositions and arrangements can be unsettling even without vocals. They're just that weird.

Neurosis, it' s like the soundtrack of the end of times, I listen all kind of extreme metal bands, but Neurosis always sound akward to me.
