Might as well ask, are we allowed to discuss this list if a politician gets named? We'd be allowed to still discuss the list, but no mention of the politican by name or clues would be allowed, I'd imagine.

I don't mind people like Josh Duggar being exposed, because he's made himself into a public figure and his hypocrisy should rightly be revealed.
For ordinary members of the public, I don't give a shit. There's no reason why their information should be revealed. Relationship issues are a matter for people to deal with personally and privately.

I'm still questioning the logic of, "We want to show it's bad that they keep people's data and don't respect their privacy... so we're airing tons and tons of people's dirty laundry!"

The hackers can screw themselves. Adultery does NOT justify or excuse blackmail, and I don't give a crap who's been cheated on, anyone that continues to side with these dirtbags are nuts.

There is no good side in this. The hackers have disclosed private information that hurt countless people, and those who were having affairs have done the same.

The hackers are the bad guys in this. Yes cheating is wrong, but it's the people involved in said relationship's business and no one else's.

My question is will this site survive the hit given by this incident? Despite what they may say about it being private, many will point to it being private before.

The BBC is reporting this as well. And apparently, according to the BBC, Canada is offering a reward of 500,000 Canadian dollars (240,000 British pounds, don't know US dollars) for information about the hackers. It seems the actual hack has used an 'unusual' means that has stumped investigators. This creates a new layer to this story. Beyond the horror of stealing and releasing thousands of people's personal information, including address, emails and credit card details, and the litany of woe this can create; the fact that these losers seem to be very capable tossers is in itself a very worrying development. These twats appointed themselves judge and jury and seemingly have a very advanced skillset. Why not use it again on another website? Link: linkhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-34044506

And so it begins... I knew that people would die because of this. They may be the first but they will not be the last.

I doubt this was ever about being part of morality civil cause or anything. It has always been about the money and finding which celebs/political figures use Ashley Madison and exposing them or getting a rich random cheque. Like I wish the hackers just admit they are doing it for the money and blackmail then being moral crusaders. Like come on, 32 million adulterer on a pay site? That's a gold mine! There has to be at least a few thousand celebs/politicians. It's every blackmailers dream heist

As someone whose marriage fell apart partly due to infidelity... they are both shitty groups of people, but the hackers are the far shittier group.

Avoiding the rest of the discussion, I'm not surprised by this. finance.yahoo.com/news/ashley-madison-bunch-dudes-talking-233158251.html- 31 million accounts for men, 5 million for women - Many of the female account were internally created, or made with the same very unusual last name and were likely fake - Less than 10,000 female accounts ever did anything. Essentially, it was a site to get men to spend money to take to women who weren't there, and were probably not real. It was probably a better catfishing website than hookup website.
