And then boomeranged back to the being one of the all-round worst guys on the roster. What an absolute waste. I like goofy babyface R-Truth. It's a lot better than R-Truth whose gimmick was just that of him rapping before his matches. I want to like goofy face R-Truth too. I just hate that whenever he's featured, it always seems to look more like a step down for the other guy than a step up for him. He gets more TV time, but it doesn't really look like much of a push because whether he wins or loses, he pretty much remains in the same spot on the card. I'd rather see someone brought up to his level than see upper midcard guys brought down to his.

Chris Masters went from all body and no work to tearing it up on Superstars on a weekly basis, then getting fired.

D'Lo Brown was pretty terrible and green when he debuted in 97, then really improved when he had the X-Pac feud in summer/fall 98 D'Lo is one of those guys that I feel like REALLY could have broken bigger. His biggest loss was that he spent the prime part of his career standing right next to The Rock. No one was getting out of that shadow. He could have gotten bigger and been a damn good force in 2000, but the botched powerbomb on Droz f***ed with his mind. I don't think WWE or Droz blamed D'Lo for it happening, but it got in D'Lo's head causing him to second guess his moves, and hold back in matches.

The New Age Outlaws. Each was all but dead in the water when they were paired, and with just a bit of tweaking they went to the moon. It really is strange. You had Billy Gunn, a guy who was, I think, the exact "average" wrestler. Good at everything but not great at any of them. Then, you had Jesse James, who was an underrated talker, but not much else. By themselves, floundering. Together...f***ing magic. No idea how that happens. Put like that, it's reminding me a lot of the situation with the Prime Time Players.

Put like that, it's reminding me a lot of the situation with the Prime Time Players. And to a lesser extent RybAxel and Kidd/Cesaro. None of those four were really going anywhere at the time they were thrown together, and both teams turned out to be awesome, which in turn lead to renewed momentum and singles pushes for Ryback and Cesaro.
