I literally just met him 2 weeks ago His voice was very hoarse and he looked the worst I'd ever seen him, but he was so happy, especially when I mentioned "They Live". This sucks,I really wish I had talked to him longer than what I did.

One of my favorite wrestlers, sad to see him go. Also I just heard a story about his death on the Art Bell newsbreak, not a shock since Bryan Alverez does/did a show on the online network Bell is on, Dark Matter and earlier on the 10 pm news.

I'm in the UK and this has hit me hard. We were sat in a bar after work last night with a lapsed fan and he was stunned that Dusty had passed. Now Roddy, an all-time great. A legend. A gentleman. Only a few days ago when channel hopping, I caught the Louis Theroux wrestling documentary, and though he had just got to the arena and 'had a camera stuck in his face' he was friendly, cooperative and informative. There are no words I can use to describe how much this loss has hit me, especially in a week when I lost a family friend and family member. You think your heroes are immortal, and they are. As Hotrod will live on in each one of our fond, cherished memories. RIP Roddy

Listened to the RD interview from his podcast and the one thing that stuck out was he wanted one more match, to team with his son who is an MMA fighter. Sad that he never got to do that.

Just woke up and hearing this, my half asleep state is now fully awake. I haven't read through the 16 pages yet but oh my goodness. Poor Hot Rod all the best to his family.

I'm heartbroken over this...wrestlings greatest badass, an icon, a legend, and when he was on one of the greatest and most magnetic personalities in the sport.
So many icons of my childhood are gone. Piper, Savage, Warrior, Hennig etc. The list is far too long.
I don't watch much wrestling now, so memories of the golden era is all I've got, and when these golden era superstars start leaving us in such a painful fashion it is deeply upsetting. A little piece of you dies too. The world was a heck of a lot better with Roddy Piper in it
That's why I hate it when people get on guys like Hogan/Flair etc case "just retire/get off tv/go away"
got damn we're lucky to have them

No joke I just read the news and threw my phone down on my bed and let out a few expletives. Just damn Wrestling is going through some tough times recently. R.I.P Piper another legend gone before his time.

Not another one! Piper will be truly missed. Even in wrestling terms 61 is way too soon.

Well that sucks, first Dusty now this. I couldn't find any of my favourite Piper matches on youtube so I'll just leave it with a pic of him harassing Frankie Williams. RIP Piper, in true Hot Rod fashion here he is right now stealing Hogans spotlight one last time. You dont throw rocks at a man with a machine gun

I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said here so I'll just this is incredibly sad news and he was one of my favourites as a child.

I'm sure it's been shared in here but I saw a tweet shared on facebook that said something along the lines of even in death Piper manages to steal the attention away from Hogan. Rivals til the end.

Got home from buying some stuff at the store and saw this....Tried to watch They Live and cried my eyes out. My favorite wrestler except for Sting. I made the decision to quit drinking for the rest of the year a couple days ago (diet..blah blah). This last one is for you Roddy. Rest in peace.

I am in shock. I remember his match with Bret at Wrestlemania 8 was one of my favourites and really showed how he could have a great Wrestling match and not just be known as a brawler character.
