Hot Rod was great. I mostly remember his face run in the nineties. The dvd let me see his smarmy heel act and i just became a bigger mark.
I loved the rambling podcast. I love ya
His bad ass hero run in wcw was damn cool. Possibly why i mark for ambrose.

My laptop was busted so I just heard about this. This really hurts. He was once of my childhood heroes because of nationalism. Yes, he was Scottish the same way Rod Stewart is but was still one of our own. Glad I got to meet him. And he even commented on how he loved my Hot Rod shirt.
RIP Roddy.

R.I.P Hot Rod! Even though most of his career happened before my time he became incredibly relevant to my generation when I started watching in 99 (when I was 8). I still love his SD run in 2003 with O'Haire and I love (and feel it is really under appreciated) his segment with Austin at WM21 when I was in my in my very early teens. A true icon and one of the best promos ever/certainly one of the most memorable characters in the history of wrestling. Pretty much invented what we think of as a badguy who doesn't take any shit and says it as it is, which echoed into what Austin, Punk etc characters would become. Even in his later appearances he has had in the past few years on TV he STILL showed more passion than 99% of the roster when it came to the promo. I remember him verbally demolishing Cena before his matches with Rock, Barrett/Nexus, Old School Raw, Shield etc etc. He never lost that fire and intensity he had, yet he showed a personality at the same time. You couldn't teach that kind of thing He had his demons but don't we all, and yet he also had that cheeky smile on his face whenever he showed up on my screen. How could you not love the guy? And his Always Sunny episode ruled as well. R.I.P It's a damn shame what happened with Austin a few weeks back, I don't know how Austin is feeling right now, but if I was to have ended it like that before Roddy's unfortunate passing I would be even more so in a mess. Looking forward to hopefully seeing an amazing tribute package for him on Raw Monday, he deserves a bagpipe filled montage of all his greatest moments. His and Dustys passing away in short time within each other. Rough rough year for everyone in the business, wrestlers, writers, bookers and fans a like. The good thing about it is we are a very strong community of people, so I always feel the support we have for each other in times like this. We all carry it, which is nice how close we all feel as fans. Cheers FAN for being there as always

Is it me or does 17 pages not seem like a lot so far? Are we just getting used to it?

The promo with Jericho in 2009 in that Legends angle is my favourite promo of all time. Find me posting about it elsewhere on here and you'll see it's true - will post it from my PC later probably. It always choked it up. Now will probably make me bawl.
Rest in peace Roddy - one of the real legends in this industry.

When I found out about this I was at work then went out right after with friends so I really didn't have a chance to sit down and say what I feel about this. This one hit me hard because well Rowdy Roddy Piper was the guy that made me a fan of wrestling. It was the early 90s face run but as I got older and started looking back at everything else he did when I was too young, the more I liked him and that something that kept growing as time went on and knowing really what kind of man he was outside of that ring and the life he had to get to what he had became. He was just as good as a face and he was a heel, no matter what role he was in he entertained and got the fans eating out of his hands every time. I do believe without Piper Hulkamania wouldn't have taken off like it did because Piper was his first big feud and played that role of the ultimate bad guy to a "t".
When I look at what Piper been through in life, he was truly someone I admired because he NEVER quit. He been Stabbed, He been in car accidents, he bet cancer, and refused to give up in wrestling when in his young days nobody wanted him in it but he kept fighting and become one of the most entertaining and energetic characters in history. So many have taken after him but there will never be anybody like Piper. Outside the ring he was a gentle soul and nothing like the man we saw on TV. He loved his family and they always where his top priority. He was proud of them and he made sure everyone knew of that. Plus he loved the people that made him who he was the fans. The thousand of stories I have heard from people who meet him always say he was amazing and always told the time to talk to every one in that line. Not every wrestler is that personal with fans and Piper the once most hated man on camera. Was the most loved behind it in the eyes of the fans.
To may all time favorite wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper. Thank you for everything. RIP You maybe gone but never forgotten.

I think that might be the case, last night when I saw Roddy's pic on a newsite, even before I read the headline I thought, "he's dead". I feel numb really, Dusty's death was hard, Warrior's too, Savage, Benoit, this Hogan thing. This isnt right. Wrestling is F'd up and Im a 20 year fan, these deaths shouldnt be happening and I shouldnt feel numb to this one. At this point is anyone expecting any 80's wrestler to survive the next 5 years? This is F'd up.

RIP Piper, I was never a fan of his (especially his WCW days 96-99) but always appreciated his effort and passion

Piper had some fairly unmemorable appearances over the Legends portion of his career, but that promo and the "I never won the World Title" promo he cut with Cena and Barrett during the Nexus angle are by far two of the best promos given on WWE TV in the last 10 years.
