If it isn't this, then what's the point?

It's being developed by the guy who did a sitcom I don't even remember this past season "A to Z" and previously wrote the beloved film "Cars2"

I've heard worse setups. We all know the real heroes in Marvel and DC are the insurance and construction companies.

Ridiculous..
That's like having a show set in Gotham City without Batman in it.

So can we pretty much admit that DC is just throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks anymore?
Their complete lack of a master plan is just so flagrant compared to Marvel, at least in regards to everything but their animation.
It's almost like DC wound up with excellent cartoons in spite of itself.

I know Gotham's been getting good reviews, but do we need a Batman origin story that spans the length of a TV series? Even with Smallville, did we need that to understand how Superman came to be? I can appreciate wanting to set up different universes, but they could just have a Batman or Superman show with them fully active and it'd be great.

This sounds a lot like Marvel's "Damage Control" comic, which is actually quite awesome at times.
Here's how I imagine this show going - it lasts six episodes, builds up something of a cult following, then gets canceled. Everybody at current DC does everything they can to distance themselves from it after its failure. In 5-10 years time DC makes a big deal about incorporating these characters into the main DCU in their latest reboot, talking about how the show was an unappreciated gem ahead of its time. When the characters finally make their appearance in that reboot they are completely unrecognizable from their original form because the person DC put in charge of writing the comic had never actually seen the show.

Ridiculous.. That's like having a show set in Gotham City without Batman in it. Or a show where Clark Kent battles Lex Luthor, works at the Daily Planet, and forms the Justice League before actually becoming Superman.

No Mortal Kombat crossover a la "MKvsDCU," no buys.

They're missing the boat not having it be Booster Gold/Blue Beetle 'buddy cop' show.

That actually sounds pretty fun. I always like the smaller stories revolving around the crazy world of superheroes. Much more interesting than Marvel's current paint by numbers brand. I'd love to see Marvel do a version of this except with "Superhero Battle Scene Cleanup" where we see the working schlubs who are hired by the city to clean up the rubble after Juggernaut and Collosus destroy entire buildings in a fight .

See that sounds fun. But the guy writing sucks so it'll probably blow.

But still enough TV shows that try to cash in on the superhero craze but then try dumb workarounds to avoid having actual superheroes.
Flash already showed that live action superheroes work. QUIT BEING CHEAP

By the end of the series Clark had fought all of his major villains anyway. What was left?

I think it sounds interesting, but like any sitcom it gets down to execution not the premise. I was psyched for Last Man on Earth and gave-up on it after a few episodes. I didn't get into the characters, it didn't make me laugh.

Most of the drama I felt watching the finale was "he's gonna put on the suit! He's finally gonna put on the suit!"
