A friend who is a former WWE fan asked some friends why we watch now. It was a good question, and after I tallied it all up, I was pretty surprised at how many things I really do like, despite often being down on the actual product. This is not including NXT.
So what are the things you like?
Their promo and video packages are bar none, just fantastic stuff.
As far as talent goes:
1. The New Day - they have played it so damn hard and eclipsed my rather high expectations for the group. Not just my favorite thing in wrestling, I look forward to them more than any other media now. They keep me watching.
2. Cesaro - no matter what this bastard does, he does it with a weird charm and swagger. One of the pound for pound strongest guys they have had, who is also fast and technical.
3. Sasha Banks - She has barely done anything on the main roster, yet when she is out there, I cannot focus on anything else.
4. Kevin Owens - Started hot but is floundering thanks to Cena-ization, but he always has a comeback, and has a hell of a move set.
5. Stardust - Cody gives it his all and then some. Too often they forget about him. Get him a henchman (Curtis Axel maybe?), bring back Hurricane and have a ball.
6.Curtis Axel - He is such a giant goober that I cannot help but love him.
7. Miz/Big Show/Ryback when they talk - Miz has found his place again after struggle post Cena-ization. Show is just a grumpy teddy bear with great improv skills. Ryback is pretty damn funny. Don't care to see any of them wrestle though.
8. Seth Rollins when he wrestles - He can talk fine, but it is all the same shit. But in ring... Dude, just dude.
9. Dean Ambrose - He is a living looney toon. So much charisma, not being used well.
10. Luke Harper - He used to be a lot more of a highlight, another dude just squandered.
11. Brock and Paul Best Friends Forever - Watching Brock wreck shit never gets old, and Paul can turn 90% of the material he has to gold.
12. Kalisto - What a fun lil shit to watch.
13. Rusev - Needs a better move set, but his improv moments and comedy are fantastic. One of the best Twitters around. Some how sympathetic thanks to Ziggler.
14. Neville - fast and strong, fun to watch.
15. My evil twin hating R-Truth
16. Titus O'Neil on commentary shutting up JBL - Anything that shuts up JBL really.
17. Wade Barret - So much upside, also Cena-ized
18. Renee Young - too good for that world.
Sidelined - Jamie Noble "Main Eventer" - All of Noble was awesome. Goldust - he gets older and better, and also invisible. Tyson Kidd - dammit! Daniel Bryan - dammit!

1. New Day 2. Rollins (when he is not speaking for 20 minutes) 3. The NXT women (not Eva or Carmella) 4. Stardust since the Amell angle started. 5. Cena matches 6. NXT specials 7. Ryback 8. Miz 9. Cesaro 10. Kevin Owens 11. Rusev 12. Orton (to some extent)
Lots of positives just horrible booking.

I like Their promo packages Live events
On the wrestling side of things I like -Seth Rollins -Kevin Owens -Cesaro -Heath Slater -Zack Ryder -Alicia Fox -Paige -Bray Wyatt -Brock Lesnar -Miz -Rusev -Tamina
The fact that 2015 is so incredible right now that I've been able to sit here and imagine what it would be like if we could have NJPW/WWE crossover matches.

Their promo and video packages are bar none, just fantastic stuff. Add to this the Michael Cole interviews, which have almost without exception been fantastic, character-building and great stuff. The Kevin Owens ones where he's started out coming across as humble and steadily becoming more of an asshole... I am with you on all of these apart from Stardust. Honestly you reeled off basically everything I like, I know there's more, but there is so much to love about WWE in general right now even with confusing booking decisions. Honestly, I could just say NXT in general. I think Takeover: Brooklyn, if it doesn't lead to NXT becoming too successful and ending up being shitty, may have been one of the individual high water marks as a wrestling fan. Oh, the no-name talents can't draw? They just drew 15,000 on their own, with just a Network show and the only established star being a legend from New Japan. Honestly, I think that people must have felt the same when Barely Legal happened in 1997. This was the arrival of our guys. Now don't f*** it up...

I totally get not liking Stardust, but man, Cody just puts his heart and soul in to it, he changed a bunch of his move set and even the way he walks. The dude just gets nuance. I look at it and see so much potential. They needed to do more with his feud with Goldust. NXT is wonderful, but since I don't have the network, I am youtubing stuff. I miss it being free on Hulu. Also, loving so much of the talent makes the booking problems suck even more. I want to root for these guys, LET ME, I would rather not watch guys I like suffer, that is what caused my sabbatical for the first part of the year.

I watch because there's a lot of good performers on the show. They are just used poorly.
That's the way I would explain it to folks. It's like when a good TV show becomes shit. Just because the material became awful doesn't necessarily mean that all the actors lost ALL their appeal.

Lots of positives just horrible booking. That about sums it up, really. WWE has a lot of great talent, and when used properly they can provide a lot of entertainment. It's the execution that's lacking, leading to a number of bad or boring moments.

Lots of positives just horrible booking. It's been that way for years. Whenever a wrestler is entertaining or there's a great storyline you know the spanner in the works and the fly in the ointment is going to be thanks to creative doing something stupid and illogical.

Indeed, many DO seem like the individual parts of the show, just not the show that is put together with those parts. It's like Homer's barbecue sculpture or something.

I'm positive this thread won't make 3 pages.
But seriously, I personally feel that overall WWE product is much, much stronger than it been in a decade.

WWE is like Dexter season 8
The whole cast is very talented and putting in some great performances but YEE GODS the writing is abysmal.

Top to bottom they've got the most talented roster they've ever had IMO (yep, even better than 2000 - 2001). It's just a shame creative isn't at the same standard.
They have a plethora of guys underneath with tonnes of potential who should be groomed as future main eventers. One criticism of New Japan right now is that they're not prepped very well for the future beyond Okada.

The talent is there. The booking........yeah.
You want certain people to be stars but are willing to sacrifice others heat. Add in the fact they don't want others to be TOO over(No repeats of Brock & Punk).
