*flexes muscles*
I've been carrying since I was born.
But seriously, I've never owned a firearm though I know I should at least be proficient at handling them.

Ok cool, not coming from a gun culture, you get the sense that a lot of people don't bother, they just buy one and that's it. Anyone who really goes to the trouble to get one nowadays legally seems to be very respectful of it in my area. I've had a ton of people come through and discuss their gun stuff with me as we were probably the only place in the city who knew how to make a photo for a CCW, and thus got pretty much every bit of business for that thanks to word of mouth. It could definitely be way different elsewhere though.

Look up some gun classes for beginners I'm pretty they have quite a few of them. I now live 5 minutes within two gun ranges and I work for security. Soon we'll be switching to armed so I won't have a choice. I didn't choose learning, learing is about to choose me. Lol.

Keep in mind I grow up around guns but, I've never found them to be hard to learn. Just follow the 4 rules of safety and you're good to go.

I am fine with guns. I've been trained to use them and to respect them, and I've fired shotguns, pistols, hunting rifles, and assault rifles. I inherited two from my grandfather but gave them both to my sister as I don't really need them. I can handle myself more than fine, and she's the one who lives in the middle of nowhere. I personally can't really think of any reason to hate guns any more than I hate hammers or spatulas. Just people, and I already dislike people.

At the time we happened to have pretty dedicated employees who really cared about their jobs and making customers happy.

I haven't got my permit yet, took the class but I haven't filed the paperwork. Will be doing so shortly. I want to carry because I've had people try to carjack me(turned one into a speed bump), and heard someone try my doorknob at 1 am. Having a loaded .45 in the house made that not so alarming. I might carry my Sig P220, but that's a full size .45, and it's rather chunky. If I don't like carrying that, I'll probably buy a Glock 30s. My Taurus model 66 is unfortunately out of the question... So how does that Taurus handle and shoot? I've never shot one but, I've read their quality control can be VERY hit and miss. In fact the gun store down the street from my house has quit selling their revolvers because they've had so many problems. Mine is perfect. It's ridiculously accurate, especially with light shooting.38 specials. I know they had a bad time with quality control for a while, but the worst of it was a couple of years ago from what I understand. They have a lifetime warranty at least.

Taurus just had a recall of about million pistols. www.al.com/news/birmingham/index.ssf/2015/07/taurus_agrees_to_voluntary_rec.html

A person very close to me that lives about 500 miles away recently got his concealed carry. And I decided that I will avoid being around him at all costs for a long time. Not because the general concept of gun ownership is bad, but because this person is delusional and I believe he suffers from borderline personality disorder. He absolutely should not have a gun, especially not be able to carry one in public.
A lot of my friends own guns, and that doesn't scare me at all.
There is something to be said for the "gun culture" though. People think guns are cool, and I think that's a big reason that some people get them, and they don't admit that. It makes sense though, we grow up playing with toy guns, when you grow up you get a real gun. But then, toy guns look like real guns, which of course is f***ing stupid and can (and has) only lead to bad things happening. Why do they look like real guns? Because, if they look fake, they're not as cool.
The cool factor around guns is something I think needs to go the hell away. Owning them for self-defense, and hunting, I am completely down with that. But there's another level to it that makes it unsettling.

unless you're Clint Eastwood in The Unforgiven having a gun on you is going to do squat to help you when someone else is already pointing one at you. IMO having a gun on you is just a sign of immense paranoia and more likely to make a situation worse than better. can't remember the last time I ever heard of a situation getting diffused because a bystander had a gun.

Went to the local gun store and they had a unfired 4 inch Colt Python. And they only wanted $3200 for it.
