Well, that sucks. Seemed like he was going to be found competent until he took the stand.
Feel horrible that her family will never get their day in court.

Well that's the end of that for now then.
But an incompetency ruling can be reversed if it seems that his mental condition has made a rapid recovery.

UPDATE: Snuka has been deemed not competent enough to stand trial . A lot of people claiming that his mental health has been fine at merch tables and autograph sessions, which makes this suspicious. If it was tied to Snuka's cancer, though, that would make sense if he couldn't stand trial- there'd be the real risk that he couldn't survive long enough to see a day in jail, so it'd almost defeat the purpose as well.

It's a shame. They should have at least done something regarding the trial. I call shenanigans on his "incompetence".

Not at all surprised that he isn't fit to stand trial at this point, shame it took so long to indict him.

This isn't a ruling that is used lightly, nor often, with the vast majority of people claiming incompetence probably not getting it, so I can't imagine it was an easy call. That said, I do hope people watch him like a hawk, and if he's faking it, that he gets exposed.
He's not been quite all there at the best of times, and with mounting brain injuries, likley, for a guy whose offense consisted of a myriad of headbutts, age, and cancer, I could buy that he's running on autopilot to a significant degree, but I feel sorry for the victim's family, given I do not buy his multiple accounts of the story.

Even someone with a lowered capacity can be a parrot, give some "how you doin brutha" and sign stuff, when he's been doing it for like 30+years. I wouldn't necessarily say that is a good indication of his capacity.

Can we lay off comparing a legal decree made after medical specialists had testified to people who saw him interact at autograph signings? I feel bad. I'm sure he killed her but in this circumstance a trial can not happen. It is what it is.

Yeah, how much time does someone actually spend at a merch table or autograph table to actually see the full extent of the man's mental faculties.

So, the statute says in PA that:
"Whenever a person who has been charged with a crime is found to be substantially unable to understand the nature or object of the proceedings against him or to participate and assist in his defense, he shall be deemed incompetent to be tried, convicted or sentenced so long as such incapacity continues."
So yeah, if Snuka shows understanding of what happened he can go back up, but that substantially unable to understand bar is going to be a hard one to jump with any potential dementia findings.

It is unfortunate that the victim's family won't have their day in court, but I do hope they can have some sort of closure. It's a sad situation all around

Yeah, I'm of the mindset that this might be more his physical state than any alleged mental issue

I know I'll probably get shit on for this, but it's been on my mind since the procedures started...
The pacific islanders who played that stereotypical character were so good at it that they'd convince cops they were savages. Remember the Hogan / Wild Samoans story?
Is it that far-fetched to think that he worked the courts and the doctors into thinking he was unfit to stand trial?
Totally unsubstantiated idea, I don't know him, never talked to him, just saying, if there was a time to try your luck at doing this, wouldn't being accused of murder be THE time?

I wouldn't necessarily say that is a good indication of his capacity. As someone who met Snuka at a signing several years ago... that's pretty much exactly what happened. For the picture, he stood beside me and flashed the "I love you" sign as he always did on TV. And that was it.
