Yes. And that's the part that gets me. Some people act like the team got a simple slap on the wrist It's the media and the fanatics. They have to go overboard and say it's a slap on the wrist. Considering that even in this thread people demand "Forcibly move the Patriots to London" as a punishment for these things, is it surprising they demand any reasonable- even draconian- punishment be a slap on the wrist? If the outside fans wonder why Boston fans are such jerks, maybe the fact that you non-fans think "take the Patriots from New England. And just for what they did, take the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and Revolution from them too. And can we drop a nuclear bomb on Boston, Hartford, Providence, Burlington, Manchester, and Portland just to make sure we kill as many of those asshole Boston fans as possible?" is a justifiable punishment for these things might have something to do with it.

Oh, now they want to support them? They were so eager to throw them under the bus earlier. Well, good luck on that one. I'd say the evidence against them are much, much more solid than it was against Brady. Now that I think on it, do they even want to do that? These guys will have to make statements at any hearing regarding their fate, which could really hurt Brady in his eventual hearing on the NFL's appeal.

Its been enjoyable listening to the morning sports radio guys in Boston tear apart some of the media talking heads who were brave enoug to call in. Theyve all pretty much given up on calling in now to defend their lunacy.

Oh, I am sure that Brady got more consideration that others would not have gotten, but I imagine it had more to do with being a star QB than being white.

Actually, the decision happened not because of race or decision, but because the NFL was overreaching in its punishment. Brandon Marshall's argument is that others in the same spot might not have gotten that decision. You say that it is a clear and fair result, but Marshall's point is that courtroom decisions aren't always fair and just and there are way too many examples to support his general argument. Sure, I would love to think that if it had been Josh Freeman who was in Brady's position that the decision would have been the same, but I would not guarantee it. If it hadn't been, Marshall would argue it was because Freeman's a shade too dark. Me, I would say it is because more people care about a star like Tom Brady than a guy who may have washed out of the league this offseason.

Good point, fame does seem to get you better lawyers and more attention from the media. By the way, to echo the fact that race didn't have much to do with this.....Bountygate. 3 of the 4 charged I believe were black and as some have pointed out, that didn't even need to go to court to get the suspensions erased while the coach, assistant coaches, and GM (all white) got the hammer thrown at them.

Well, Richard Sherman has come out and done the surprising thing by opposing players who played the Patriots in the Super Bowl, and actually backed them, saying it wasn't cheating what they did. espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13618368/seattle-seahawks-richard-sherman-backs-tom-brady-new-england-patriots-cheatingSherman is a well-educated guy (he did graduate from Stanford (and is working on getting a Master's Degree), which while a big school in the Pac 12, is very hard to get into) and has actually done the bigger man thing in moving on, unlike some people who the Patriots beat.

Roethlisberger, despite not being charged, served a four-game suspension (reduced from six) in 2010. Richie Incognito was suspended indefinitely in 2013. Vilma, Smith, etc., had their suspensions overturned, while Payton and Co. served their suspensions.

ESPN needs to apologize for certain parts of this OTL report then, but I think ESPN has a new motto of not apologizing for anyone.

It's been said that ESPN became the NFL's mouthpiece, as well as being the Fox News/Pravda of sports. Olbermann and Simmons, despite their recent questionable reputation, had left ESPN, supposedly for criticizing Goodell.

Your response seems to me like you think I did.

The NFL says that the Patriots suspended them on their own. The Patriots (and several reports out there) say that the league forced/"suggested" they be suspended. This is given more creadence given that the Patriots have a letter indicating they were to ask permission before reinstating them (and common sense. If the Pats suspended them on their own, why do they *have* to ask permission to lift said suspension?) And they already did make statements. McNally did so to Ted Wells 4 different times. His testimony was NOT included in the Wells Report, for some strange reason. (Just like Brady's wasn't. Notice a pattern?)

Olbermann and Simmons, despite their recent questionable reputation, had left ESPN, supposedly for criticizing Goodell. Just throwing this out there: ESPN has edited ESPN Boston writer Mike Reiss a couple of times in the last week. First, it was a tweet of a Brady statement where they wrote a misleading byline and attributed it to him. When this was pointed out to Reiss, he immediatly responded that he wasn't happy about the deception. Then last night, his article criticisng the OTL report was "tightly edited" (ESPN's exact words) removing a couple of paragraphs, one of which questions one of the rumors brought up in the OTL piece. I could suggest that things like this is why stuff like the OTL report shouldn't be taken as the gospel of truth, but hey, nothing to see here, right? ESPN sure isn't trying to force a narrative or anything....

They've been caught lying, misquoting, editing content and forcing their own narrative all in lock step with one another. Frightening what they're doing. I think Bill belichick has all the likability of wiping your ass with fiberglass insulation but I'd believe anythting out of Foxboro before espn, one has developed quite the track record in this case
