Andy Dwyer.
He started off as a lazy douche in the first season, but became a loveable manchild.
Plus, how can you not love Chris Pratt?

That reminds me. If I ever booked a wrestling promotion I'd name one of the guys Parker Lewis. He'd then have a name your own stipulation match where his stipulation would be that the match is a, "Parker Lewis Can't Lose Match." His opponent would proceed to beat the ever loving shit out of him with steel chairs, barbwire, tables, etc. Leading the commentators to say things like... Commentator #1: For God sakes, Parker Lewis has been busted open. Can't he just lose already? Commentator #2: That's the thing. He can't lose! Parker Lewis can't lose! This would go on for about 15 minutes until the opponent tired himself out leading Parker Lewis to get the fluke pin.

Philip J. Fry was likeable. So were the main characters from IT Crowd.

Al showed love for his family better than dang near everyone. He is a victim of circumstance in a lot of ways, even if self created, but he does what he can.

Tim Taylor always meant well. He was hard to hate. He was the kind of dude you'd slap upside the head for being dumb then give him a hug 5 minutes later for being awesome. More or less a prototypical lovable oaf. Unless your name was Al. Agreed. Home Improvement kinda set the stage for the "loveable oaf married to smart/hot wife" wave that we saw from the mid/late 90's onward, but the difference is, Tim didn't have the same selfishness driving him most of the time. Yeah, he was a dope, but he was a tremendous father and husband 99% of the time

Sheriff Andy Taylor, although you'd be hard pressed to find anyone in Mayberry who wasn't likable in some way.
Jed Clampett guy was always there for his family despite their odd quirks, hell he even inadvertently made their fortune just trying to catch supper for them.

Since JD got mentioned in the other thread, I'd like to make an argument that Turk falls in this category. Although he was prone to childish when it came to his friendship with JD, he arguably had the most consistent characterization in the series from beginning to end. I felt like he actually convincingly grew up over the course of the series and he made it to the end of season 9 without feeling like a completely caricature of himself like so many sitcom characters tend to.

I've seen at least three names in this thread who were actually supporting characters and not lead characters.

Good call on Tim Taylor. He was a great family man, even if he was a goofball.
Having just binge watched the first season on Netflix with my wife, I'm going to go ahead and say Riley Matthews thusfar on Girl Meets World. She's such a great kid, very much in the vein of early Cory. It actually makes you smile when stuff works out for her.

The main characters from 3rd Rock From the Sun.
They're oddballs but in a good way.

I know he's not a lead character, but dammit, I can't help but root for poor Jerry in Parks & Rec.
